“Try the hot pools Icelandic”
Reviewed October 29, 2012

You must try the hot pools of Laugardalur Park. They provide several pools indoor or outdoor of various temparatures. A good place to relax after a long flight.

“Outdoor thermal pools”
Reviewed September 27, 2012

This complex is about 30 mins stroll from the centre of town, or, if you're on a cruise ship, about 20 mins from the dock. For about £5 each you get a big swimming pool, various hot tubs at different temperatures (44 degrees the maximum, we lasted 60 seconds!) & an indoor pool. When we were there(about lunch time midweek) there was plenty of room for everybody; indeed, it's such a big complex it's difficult to see it ever being overcrowded. We were there on a cold day(although no doubt the locals would disagree!) but once you're in the water it just doesn't matter.

Great fun. Highly recommended.

“Wonderful walk to the Botanical Gardens in Laugardalur Park”
Reviewed September 15, 2012

This review is not so much about the Park but about the walk getting there and back and the Botanical Gardens within the park, which was our destination. For one thing it wasn't raining that day which made the walk much more pleasant. We walked along Faxafloi Bay with a strong wind blowing off the water and many people were out walking and running on this path along the Bay. It took us about 30 minutes to walk from the tourist area of Reykjavik to Laugardalur Park. Once off the waterfront the area is more residential and quiet. The park contains many sports related buildings but that day only the 'swimming pools' (I'm being ridiculously understated) were active, or so it seemed. The Botanical Gardens were quite a ways into the park but well worth seeing although we didn't find the building which contained the cacti. There is a very nice cafe, Cafe Flora, in its grounds which serves hot food and desserts.

Lovely small view of local animals - Icelandic horses and a beautiful white arctic fox. Local swimming too. Very restful to walk in the park
