The hotel website stated that all rooms had been renovated and all had bathrooms. Not true. My room was very small, no TV, no radio, no closet, no coffee, no clock, etc., and the shared bathroom was down the hall. I asked for a different room and the guy at the desk was quite surly and said that there were no other rooms available and when I asked if my money would be refunded if I left to find a different hotel, he said there were no refunds because I booked the room through an agency. Iceland is an amazing place to visit, just don't go to Adam Hotel.

Hello,
we would like to thank you very much for your stay!
You have booked SHARED facility accommodation..thats why price and standard is lower, than if you would pay for PRIVATE accommodation.
We will be happy to host you again sometime in future in our PRIVATE accommodation, where each room is equipped with a private bathroom, television, refrigerator and a basic kitchen necessary to make your own breakfast. All rooms have free WiFi Internet connection. Downstairs we have a grocery shop that's open til late and also lobby/coffee shop, where you can enjoy a cup of your favorite brew, to have a breakfast, or just browse the internet on our free WiFi hot spot.
We can provide you also with car rental service and arrange the airport transportation for you.
Thank you very much !!

Stayed here for one night. It is reasonably clean, but the room or the property was severely overpriced. Things I noticed:

- The hotel brochure says all rooms have a bathroom. Mine did not. When I asked the manager, he said bathrooms were only guaranteed for those booking directly. No such note is on the hotel brochure.
- Upon entering the room (with two beds), the hotel assistant manager immediately removed the bedding and pillow off the second bed since I would be the only occupant. Later that evening, I discovered the remaining pillow was very flat. I went down and asked the same assistant manager for a 2nd pillow. He said that couldn't be done.
- There was no soap or Kleenex in the room. Only toilet paper.
- Walls were very thin.

We really didn't expect much at such a low price, but at arrival it turned out that the hotel was full and we were put in a small house on the side which apparently housed students who lived there long term. Still it was no problem, quiet, central, free parking on the street outside (if you can find a place), and a tiny tea-kitchen where you could cook with WWII utensils. If the TV in the room had worked I might have considered the stay average, due to the correlation between price and expectations. And the pictures on the website didn't look like our room did at all.

Not really impressed overall, but it did the job for my stay. The room was small and simple, the bathroom had a bit of rust but was overall clean, even if the ventilation was only done through an open window which didn't close properly. The toilet also didn't flush very well. Bed was decent, wifi reception very bad but luckily there was a computer in the room so I used its cable connection, which was fine. Woken up several times by construction work next door, but otherwise the location is great, near the Hallgrímskirkja and the shopping streets. The lobby is empty of staff most of the time, and the staff seemed as annoyed as me at trying to find or contact the owner! Call in advance for checking in, our or any requests. I was picked up from the airport, which was less expensive than a cab but more than a bus. Breakfast is minimal. I didn't mind staying there but would probably look elsewhere for a future trip.

Ok, it's cheap, but you definitely be better off finding something that costs a bit more!
We changed rooms twice, and even though we paid extra to have a separate bathroom at the first change we didn't see much improvement.

We were also especially unfortunate since there was alot of building activity next door, and we had to argue to make the staff understand that we didn't want to wake up at six every day.

But if you do decide to stay there, please make sure you check the beds; many of the rooms have old beds with springs in them and they are VERY uncomfortable!

Read Tripadvisor before every booking. Looking back I see I was warned here. Room is iike a garage at the back(105). No wifi reception there. Shower curtain falling down sheet of plastic. Owner craps on you at every turn making me feel like a naughty schoolboy. I had a reservation but arrived late 23:00, was definitely not made to feel welcome. Bodes badly for Reykjavik. Let's make this day better.

Room Tip: 105 has no wifi

We had to stay here one night because the Grettisgata Apartments did not honor our reservations. The room had 2 twin beds that were uncomfortable. The room was very small with cheap furnishings. It had a sink with a few dishes and utensils to use. We really didn't use anything because we wanted to get out of there as fast as we could. We also had to share a bathroom. It was so small and the opening to the shower was barely large enough to get through. The room was also very noisy. The breakfast provided was expensive and was not adequate. The owners/managers (husband and wife?) were very unfriendly. I had actually looked at this place to stay when I was planning the trip and saw the terrible reviews and decided against it. Now, I know for sure this a place I would never recommend.
