Hotel Fron is in probably one of the best locations in the city - everything within easy walking distance and surrounded with shops and great bars and restaurants. It's on the main street but we had no problem with noise. Breakfast is good - fresh and constantly replenished and the staff are really friendly and helpful. If you're looking to save a bit of spending money it may be a good idea to book a kitchenette.

Room Tip: just request a quiet room - also if you're a couple you may - or may not(!) want to request a do...

My husband and I just returned from a 4 night stay at the Hotel Fron. I chose it for its good reviews and lower price point than some of the other comparable hotels in the area. It is located on the main shopping street, and we easily walked up and down Laugavegur multiples times each day and night with ease. The Te and Kaffe shop across the street is good for a quick coffee and snack, and the French place across the street (two names- Le Chateau des Dix Gouttes and Tiu Dropar) in the basement has good food and wine at a decent pricepoint for Iceland, and has food available until around 10 PM during the week (most other places do not). Breakfast was basic but good, and the bedding felt like a dream after some long days of touring. Very comfy! The shower had excellent heat and water pressure, which I often find lacking even in some of the nicest hotels. We had a room in the main building and faced the back of the building- not the main street, so it was fairly quiet, The walls are a tad thin, and we coul dhear our neighbors coming home, opening their safes, etc. WiFi left a bit to be desired, but it did its job. Room was wuite large, and the bathroom was downright palacial.

Room Tip: Choose one in the main building facing the back for a quiet night's sleep.

We stayed here for 3 nights in Feb and we're very impressed with the room size and a great kitchenette which meant we could save some money and have some snacks in the room. Reykjavik is not a cheap place. The hotel is right on the main shopping street which can be a little busy but we had a room in the blue building which was set back from the street so found it a really quiet location.

An excellent hotel our doubleble room turn out to be a suit with a balcony, not what you expect in the heart of the city. Everything is clean and Scandinavian (looks good, works brilliantly) breakfast is fresh and tasty ( slightly too Scandinavian but the jams are great) I really could think of adore enjoyable place to stay for a few day

The hotel is not the most plush or extravagant but has everything you need for a busy stay in Iceland .
The rooms are clean and modern . The beds very comfortable and staff really helpful .
The tours are well organised and Icelanders really friendly . We thoroughly enjoyed our grand circle tour with BB who made a very long day humorous and informative .
Iceland has been surprisingly beautiful and would love to come back again .
The Northern lights were extraordinary !!
Would thoroughly recommend at stay in this Hotel . The food is very good in the Scandinavia restaurant as well .
