“Great Location!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 13, 2014 via mobile

Great location, right in the middle of Reykjavik.

Comfortable, clean rooms, but was a little too warm and pillow wasn't comfortable.

Good continental breakfast buffet. Friendly, helpful staff, but you will be charged if you want to check-out after 11:00am!

This is easily one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in, when you look at value for money. We were in a one bedroom studio apartment and it was clean and spacious. It had a cooktop and a microwave, with a balcony overlooking the rear car park. Was very quiet. A supermarket and a 7-11 were nearby. Being on the main shopping strip was very handy. You can pretty much walk to all parts of central Reykjavik including the harbour from the hotel. All tours offer a pick up from the lobby. The Flybus from the airport does a drop off at the front door. Staff very friendly and helpful, especially Hulga, the night receptionist. Breakfast was average, but more than adequate. The restaurant can get crowded after 7:15 a.m., so get there early. Can't really find anything negative to mention.

This is an absolutely wonderful hotel. The rooms are very clean and the staff are most helpful. We were greeted by as very friendly young man on the reception desk who asked if it was our first time in Iceland (it was) and warned us about the hot water in the shower smelling a bit like rotten egg because of the sulphur.
The room is spacious and well equipped with 2 hobs for cooking and a coffee maker. But no kettle and no microwave or oven so if you plan to cook yourself you are slightly limited. They also don't provide washing up liquid but that is a minor problem and easily fixed as there is a supermarket about 100 yeards down the road.
The breakfast was simple but filling and the place had a positive vibe and staff were very helpful but prices of an evening meal is very expensive so we catered ourselves for lunch and dinner. We also tried out the SubWay they was close by, tasted just the same as at home and was really good price. I get the impression that nothing is too much hasstle and they are willing to deal with any requests you have, including lending out adaptor plugs to one guest. Equally if you did forget an adaptor plug we purchased one from a shop close by for just under £10 (equivalent to).
The hotel is located on the main shopping street and so everything is close by. I would definitely come back to this hotel and cannot recommend it enough!

Room Tip: If in doubt ring and ask, the staff would be more than willing to help.

We stayed here in November, and it was a great choice.. located right on the main shopping street so it was easy to find a grocery store, restaurants, coffee shops, and fun things to bring home. We had several tours booked during our stay, and all the busses pick you up here. Sometimes at the end of the day they need to drop you a few blocks away because the large bus can't navigate the narrow streets in the city center, but no big deal. Breakfast was enough to get you started in the morning. The staff was pleasant. We had dinner in the restaurant one night just because we had an early morning the next day, and it was quite good. I'd recommend this hotel to anyone.

I've loved my stay at the Hotel Fron. Our appart-style room was very big, clean and comfortable. We had a giant balcony over Laugavegur street, which is the prettiest shopping street in Reykjavik, near the church Hallgrimskirkja, the interior lake Tjornin and conference center Harpa. Complimentary breakfast buffet was good and varied. Staff was nice and helpful.

Room Tip: Choose an appart-room with little kitchen, living room and giant balcony looking over Reykjavik.

I was on an organised tour and the guest house we were meant to stay in had closed for Christmas so we were upgraded to the Hotel Fron. I'm so glad we were. The 3 reception staff I dealt with were all friendly and spoke perfect English. They helped myself and other members of my group to book tours around Reykjavik, which were cheaper and better than the tours my tour company were offering!! The rooms were clean, spacious and lovely and warm. The breakfast that was included was very nice and the breakfast and bar staff were very pleasant and helpful. The hotel is in a great location too.

Hotel Fron was in an excellent location! The staff were very friendly and accommodating - especially when we accidentally forgot the code to our safe. The restaurant and bar served great, local food. I would really recommend Hotel Fron!

Room Tip: You might need to ask for an extra pillow
