Description: Le Bistro is a small authentic French bistro and wine bar on Laugavegur, Reykjavik's main shopping street. Serving moderately-priced (for Iceland), classic and contemporary French food along with a great selection of wine and beer. As you step into this casual, lively and bohemic place, the French atmosphere is unavoidable. We serve slow food, with mostly local Icelandic ingredients. This is likely the only the place in the centre with a walk in policy, so you will probably only have to wait a few minutes for a table. Groups of six and more are welcome to book ahead. Bienvenue et bon appetit...

“God-Awful Burger”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 14, 2013 via mobile

Service was really good. The chips and gravy that accompanied our burgers was delicious. Unfortunately the burgers were bordering on disgusting - maybe their other food is a lot better but I have no idea what the chef was thinking when he dreamed up this mess.....

“Dark, but atmospheric and good food”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 13, 2013

We liked the look of the menu so just went in without a reservation. it was busy but they found us a table. The staff we very friendly and as I had forgotten my glasses I could not read the menu in the dim lighting, they brought me a torch within seconds. The item I requested on the menu had run out but they came and discussed my wishes and made me up a unique fish dish.
We shared a platter for a starter, which had loads of choice of meats. Would recommend this as different from your normal grills or pizza.

“Great restaurant”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 8, 2013

We stumbled across this restaurant walking the streets of Reykjavik and decided to go in to get out of the cold. It was very cute and the service was wonderful - very helpful when deciding what to order. The food was delicious - all 4 of us enjoyed our meals (we all ordered different things too!). Highly recommend this place. Oh, and the bread was beyond amazing!

“Disappointing!”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 8, 2013

Read reviews before booking and was a little disappointed. The place has a lovely atmosphere and service good. We had the half chicken - nice and moist but the sauce a bit bland and tasteless. The beef stew tasted nice but had very little veg or meat in it.

“A French Bistro, Icelandic style”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 6, 2013

The atmosphere is that of a traditional French bistro: very small tables in very close proximity to each other. That gets a bit difficult in winter with all the coats and other protecting attributes, but fortunately it was not very crowded when we were there. The food selection is definitely Icelandic and we tried different dishes, which were all excellent. The waiting time was indeed a bit long, but the services was very friendly. The wine list was very good! We had lunch there, and we would go back for dinner, just to try some more dishes.
