Description: Located in the heart of downtown Reykjavik, Hradlestin (India Express) is a favorite among locals to grab a quick bite. The Bollywood themed decor of the cafe is a creative accompaniment to eclectic modern day Indian street food. Popular items on the lunch menu range from traditional Naan Rolls (stuffed naan wrap) to Thalis (multiple curries and accompaniments) to Indian inspired Chicken Tikka pizzas and Gun Powder Masala sweet potato fries. The dinner menu offers more traditional dishes such as the Lamb Tikka Masala, Chicken Madras and Channa Masala. Both lunch and dinner menus offer dishes for vegetarians and vegans as well. Be sure to check out the lounge upstairs in a cosy Bombay loft atmosphere. The 'over the counter' style of service in a casual and comfortable setting makes Hradlestin an affordable dining option.

“Good food at good prices with super slow service”
Reviewed September 28, 2013

Food is tasty and the pricing is reasonable. I ordered the Thalis several times and they might want to add more yogurt and chips and cut out the marmalade which has no real use for most diners. Seating places could be improved however what I find unacceptable is the super slow service even in comparison with Iceland's notorious bad service - I waited 10 minutes to process my payment and over 30 minutes to get my lunch at lunch time and while ordering the most common dish.

“Fantastic value”
Reviewed September 24, 2013

This place is a real gem.

Reykjavik is an expensive place to eat out for most tourists but Hradlestin represents the best value for money that we found whilst providing a comfortable and relaxed environment and quality food. I wouldn't say it's the greatest Indian food I'd ever eaten but that's not to say that it's bad, because it certainly isn't. There was plenty of choice and we opted to have the tiffin boxes which provided an ample selection of dishes and left my stomach comfortably full without emptying my wallet.

The staff were friendly and there seemed to be plenty of locals in on the night we were there which is always a good sign. I wouldn't hesitate in recommending this restaurant to anyone visiting Reykjavik, particularly if you're on a budget but even if you're not.

“Pretty good”
Reviewed August 12, 2013

This is a little Indian food take away (or stay in) place near the main shopping/tourist area. I had the chicken tikka masala and my husband had the channa masala. Mine was ok, he said his was very good. It's a little pricey, but probably the cheapest Indian food in the city. Go in, order at the counter, grab some water and seat yourself.
