Clean warm room with all necessary facilities.
Magnificent views northwards.
Really helpful and friendly reception staff.
Ample, varied breakfast.
No restaurant/snack bar but choice of several within two minutes of entrance.
Would definitely return.

Room Tip: High level room facing north for great views over sea and mountains.

I recently stayed here on a sole travel trip. After staying in the city centre previously, I wanted a hotel a little out of the centre to give me a reason to explore certain parts of the city. Its about a 20 minute walk into the centre which isn't a problem, and a great view along the sea front if you take that path. Rooms are always cleaned to a spotless standard and although they are quite small, they are extremely functional and provide everything you need, including a lovely big walk in shower. Relaxing bar area and good prices on drinks at happy hour too (17-19h).
However - My room was facing the front of the hotel and was incredibly noisy. There were construction works being done on the building directly next to my room (although it stopped at around 5pm) but the noise of the traffic and even people walking past is clearly heard all through the night. Might be worth asking for a rear facing room as the excursions are very early departures, so sleep helps!
Apart from that everything else was good - helpful staff and a large choice at breakfast - great value for the price you pay!

Room Tip: I will add that if you are going as a single traveller, book a single room - its cheaper and the bed...

We stayed here at the beginning of December 2013 and had a wonderful time. The hotel was fantastic, the rooms were clean and very comfortable. We were very lucky with the position of our room as we had uninterrupted views of the sea and mountains.
The staff at Reykjavik Lights were second to none, very helpful and friendly. The organisation of tours was fantastic no matter what time of the day it was there was always something you book and 9 times out of 10 they could arrange for you to be picked up within 20mins of booking!!
My partner rarely sleeps very well in hotels due to either the temperature of the room or the comfort of the bed so it was refreshing (for both of us!!!) to be staying in such a comfortable bed and be able to regulate the temperature of the room to our preference.

Room Tip: Fifth floor at the front of the hotel will give you great views!

The hotel and rooms were spotless! Exceptionally pleasant staff who couldn't do more for you and very helpful making sure you get the most of your trip. Breakfast was perfect, and great value for money. Although slightly out of the city, a short bus or taxi ride away from right outside the hotel. Perfect for what we needed!

We have just got back from 4 nights at this hotel. The rooms were spotlessly clean, beds really warm and comfy and staff very friendly. Breakfast was good, with lovely hot porridge available, aswell as toast, and continental, with fruit. It is a trek into the city, but we took the sculpture walk along the seafront, which was really nice.

Stayed in November. the hotel was very clean and the staff definitely make the hotel what it is. We asked for extra towels and pillows and we got them no problem. the breakfast was very simple but nice. the hotel did not have a restaurant or serve a bar food and as we arrived very late a night all the restaurants around the area were closed so all was a garage which was quite a walk away.
went to the blue lagoon which was beyond amazing(make sure to bring your own bathing suit). went whale watching but didn’t see any but the boat trip was fantastic. took two tours to see the northern lights( not guaranteed to see them) went on the horse riding trip through the lava mountains and it was snowing but the sights were amazing.

overall fantastic trip. Only thing about the hotel as there market is mainly European perhaps they should get tea and coffee facilities in the room, not a big issue but it does make a difference

Room Tip: If travelling late in the evening, try and get food before going to the hotel

Recently stayed at this hotel (early jan 2014) and loved it. Very clean, great staff and efficient service. Hotel helped organise tours and transfers and were brill - no matter who was asked we had all of our questions answered and everything ran on time - same goes for local info. Having read previous reviews we were not expecting a room of this size, with this view and this much wardrobe space/personal space. Beautiful shower room and breathtaking views. Despite overlooking a dual carriageway we slept great with no noise from the road. We plan to return and will definitely be happy to stay here again.

Room Tip: Be confident and ask for a room with a view - that's what we did and we were not disappointed!!
