Description: THE HARBOUR The fresh and energetic atmosphere of the old harbour is part of the experience when you dine at Kopar. You can enjoy the view of the Esja mountain, a symbol of Reykjavik, while you watch the ships come into the harbour after a day at sea. THE FOOD At Kopar we choose local products, both from land and sea to create an adventurous menu! Traditional and old methods and recipes meet modern and new ingredients, giving dishes a surprising twist. For exemple, Kopar was the first restaurant in Iceland to serve Icelandic rockcrab. THE DRINKS Surprise and seductive are the keywords at the bar. Traditional cocktails meet new waves of the cocktail world. You can enjoy a pre-drink on our terrace by the harbor or sit outside after dinner with coffee and cognac. We have a cozy bar lounge with a swing where you can enjoy your drinks inside as well. The pride of the bar is the Icelandic fisherman’s Collection, a wall with an incredible selection of cognac and whiskey.

From the location we thought we would enter a restaurant that catered to tourist. No. Kopar is an excellent restaurant for fine dining at a reasonable price. There was a good selection of entrees, the service staff was excellent as was the restaurants beer selection. And they have a pastry chief. This restaurant has a real chef cooking meals. Strongly recommend eating here.

Great place for fresh fish, local food, nice view to the harbor.
We tried catch of the day cooked by the chef at his inspiration: delicious! It is the first main in the menu.
I highly recommend this place!

Just came across this pictures from our visit to Reykjavik last February. A local person suggested us this restaurant for a proper local lunch and I have to say, it was absolutely great! What a find and what a treat!
The only bad thing about it was that we found it on our last day there and we had only one chance to eat in this very typical restaurant. Don't know if we'll ever go back to Reykjavik, but if we'll do, Kopar would be our first 'stop'!!

We are here for lunch after puffin watching as part of special tours package. That entitles you to "lunch special" which is a seafood soup and fish of the day. Both were flavorful and tasty.

Pretty space and friendly staff. If you're doing any water tours, this is a great place for lunch.

We chose this restaurant for a late lunch. With great views over the Marina, Kopar has a perfect position by the waterfront. Two of us ordered the special which was cod fillet cooked in a mussel sauce with crispy vegetables, one had the fish and chips. The cod was very fresh and cooked to perfection, the sauce a perfect compliment. It was the best cod I have ever eaten. The fish and chips were very good too. Having just arrived at the start of happy hour was a bonus too. Very good food and very reasonable prices by Iceland standards. Thoroughly recommended.

And they don't have whale on the menu!
