“Imaginative, But for All the Wrong Reasons”
Reviewed July 24, 2014

Here's the scheme: Make out like your doing something creative, serve small portions, charge large prices. If there is something special going on here, we missed it. The location on the dock is certainly attractive, but the atmospherics cannot compensate for lackluster, pedestrian food preparation. Unfortunately, this is not an untypical experience in Iceland, where tourism is taking off and there is money to be made. Like other unique and interesting locales -- Bermuda, for instance, where I once lived -- restaurant and hotel owners can get comfortable raking in the easy money, always pushing the envelope on prices while neglecting the product itself. Eventually, however, travelers will get the sense that, for all the scenery and the exceedingly personable population (without question, Icelanders are kind, outgoing and often funny) visitors may still be getting had.

“Nice place by the wharf”
Reviewed July 21, 2014 via mobile

What we had was great but I wish I'd had a bigger appetite to try more interesting dishes. Skip the cod tongue; too much like hush puppies. The catfish was great. I loved the crab trio: soup, crab cake, crab salad. No room for dessert but waiter arranged a small dish of passion fruit ice cream which came with half a real passion fruit! Loved it like any ex-Hawaiian would. We call it lilikoi. We were seated upstairs; downstairs looked nicer. We had screaming children and a loud party of local ladies who had started their drinking early. Did not have a good view of the harbor. Still I rate it a very good experience.
