“Don't Miss This First-Rate Restaurant”
Reviewed April 15, 2013

We had a magnificent -- and memorable -- meal at the restaurant at Hotel Borg and couldn't have been more impressed. We went with the nine-course chef's tasting menu and everything was fabulous, from appetizer to dessert. Can't remember all the details but small plates included a sort of salmon ceviche (out of this world) and another kind of grilled salmon and an amazing roast lamb. Dessert was some sort of carrot cake topped with a sorbet. Service was attentive and professional. Can't believe this isn't rated as one of the city's best. It certainly was the best of the many places we dined in Reykjavik!

This restaurant offers exquisite food. Presentation and taste are superb. Iceland is unique and the Borg Restaurant emphasizes that quality. The chef is world renknowned and you must experience his creativity and artistry.

“GREAT GREAT GREAT”
Reviewed March 23, 2013

Borg Restaurant has just recently opened. Six of us went together and had a great evening. We all had the taste menu and wow every course was fantastic. The waiter took exelent care of us. He recommended fabolus wines which we enjoyed to the fullest. Will certainly be back hopefully soon.
The restaurant is smart but maybe a bit too loud, but is was very busy and everyone having a great meal, so who cares?
The only downside, was the sitting area located by the WC, but again OK, who wants to sit there anyway when the elegant dining room and the smart bar is available.
Overall Great dinner experience.

“Great food, lovely atmosphere”
Reviewed March 22, 2013

Went to Borgin restaurant for lunch on a Friday. The restaurant just re-opened in February 2013 under new management. The restaurant has been remodeled and the decor is much warmer and more fitting for this old hotel building than the faux baroque interior that was there previously.

We all had Fjarkinn, a menu of four small courses that is offered daily with slight changes. The courses we had were plaice, beef stir fry, chicken skewer and a spring roll. Everything was very tasty, although the fish was perhaps a bit plain. The spring roll was especially fresh and the beef delicious.

We had homemade lemonade with lunch, which was fresh and delightful. They only had one dessert on the menu, an apple/caramel concoction with ice cream, which was good but a bit too sweet for my taste. If there had been more dessert choices, the experience would have been perfect.

The service was fast and without fault, although the restaurant was quite full. With so many people in the restaurant it was a bit noisy, but not annoyingly so. There had been some misunderstanding with our table booking, but we were accommodated anyway. Definitely a place that can be recommended.
