Description: Bambus draws inspiration from the traditions and food culture of Southeast Asia. We focus on quality and freshness and therefore all ingredients are specially selected; vegetables, meat and fish. To complete this unique flavor of Southeast Asia, all sauces and condiments are prepared from foundation in our own kitchen. Bambus combines a great environment, excellent food and service that makes the experience our guests unforgettable. Our famous signature dish Peking duck has been one of most favourite dish among locals and international travellers.

The restaurant advertises with fresh local food and we ordered starters and main course. The starters was dumplings that were fried on the outside and frozen inside. I thought dumplings was suppose to be steamed. Main courses a sort of pot simulary for both of us but with different protein and my friend found big clumps of cardamom in it. On top expencive and service like the food...

It's a nice looking place in great location but the meal was far from the quality i'm expecting from the price. I tried classic Kung-Pao chicken and it was under-spiced and under-cooked. The meat had been fried earlier for sure and warmed up but not enough. Just a disaster.

So it was actually cheap take-way standard meal, priced as fine dining but the menu was actually rather poor. The price for the meal was 2.990 ISK (22 euro) and the small bottle of Coca Cola was ISK 450 (3,3 Euro) and that's a ripoff in my books, even in Icelandic restaurant standard where we have overpriced wine almost everywhere.

My wife and I passed by when we came into town and were told this was a good Chinese restaurant. As it turned out our hotel was a few blocks away so we went to Bambus for dinner that night. When we got there there were a few other tables taken, but as the evening went along the place became very busy with tables turning many times. Our waitress wasn't the most friendly, but she got better the longer we stayed. The menu had both english and Icelandic with no pictures at all. We picked a few dishes with the help of our server, Spring rolls to start which we good, but not great. Our mains were a Pork with Chinese vegetables and a brown sauce the other was Chicken with vegetables and a brown sauce. Both good and each with it'd own flavors. They also have a full bar with some nice beers.

This is probably the closest near "authentic" Chinese food you will have in Iceland, so if you have an Asian craving - this place is your best bet. I traveled with older Chinese uncle (very traditional, needs his rice) - and when he found out this place was near Fosshotel I knew we were going to have one meal here. They will cater to guests / tour groups from China, so as your concierge to phone ahead to make sure there is seating. They do have a Chinese menu with prices in Euros that will knock your socks off. Thankfully I'm illiterate and asked for the English menu, which had a totally different far and prices. Take a look at your budget and order from there.
