Description: An Icelandic tradition since 1958. Mokka is one of Reykjavik's oldest cafés and the first to install an espresso machine and serve espresso, cappuccino, and café latte in Iceland. There's a tempting selection of sandwitches, cakes, and the coffee and hot chocolate are excllent with their famous house waffles, served with cream and jam. The déckor - red carpet, leatherette booths and stools - hasn't changed much althought the art on the walls is changed every 4-6 weeks as the café has doubled as an Art gallery with new art for sale since opening.

A great Café to enjoy an espresso and art. The Café is one of Reykjaviks oldest and was the first to install an espresso machine when it opened in 1958. A great place for talking and meeting local artists.

Obviously this place is a very well loved local institution. It's a bit cramped, occasionally overrun by tourists by myself due to its central location, and has the same brown themed decor you would expect of a place that has been operating continuously since the beatniks.

The waffles & italian coffee are definitely the big draw in the morning and they are well worth the hike up the street and rubbing elbows with the backpackers at the next table. Mmmm waffles. If there is a better waffle in all of Iceland we certainly weren't able to find it. Have two.

The atmosphere is brilliant!!! Woodenmade tables and bench, an excellent Italian coffee machine, a suffused light, the scent of coffee. The cappuccino & Belgian waffels with jam and cream was very tasty. Wide selection of homemade sweets and cooffe.

Enjoyed a good coffee and a breakfast sandwich in this old school, classy coffee shop. The rich red and brown colour scheme appears to have not changed since it opened in the 50s - and it's all the better for it. Nice low-key atmosphere.

Great place for coffee and free refills. Unpretentious! Great Service! Close to the central plaza, cityhall park and harbor.
