“Fantastic Staff”
Reviewed March 5, 2013

Stayed at this hotel for 5 nights and it was an absolute pleasure.
The hotel itself was very nice - it was clean, tidy, UK TV and had free wi-fi. The beds were very comfortable and the shower was nice and hot!

The breakfast in the morning was great with fresh coffee and a good selection of food available.
The hotel was close to town and in a nice quiet area too, which was perfect.

The best thing about the hotel however is the staff - they were all incredible. So nice and always happy to help out with everything we needed.
When we got home late (1am) for some photography, there was always someone there to say hello and offer a hot drink. nothing was too much trouble for them, from booking taxi's and ordering take away to the hotel to recommending good places to go out.

I will be staying here again when i go back to Iceland!

Room Tip: rooms away from street will be quieter

We had a wonderful two night stay at this hotel. It was quiet except for people coming back late and night. Our room was subterranean, and on the street, so we also got the sound of people coming back form a night out on the town, but considering we were there on a festival weekend, it was really very good. The beds are ever so comfortable and the rooms are warm, so no need to think you might freeze just because it 0 degrees Celsius outside.

The breakfast is quite hardy. The dark brown bread is delicious and the coffee is wonderful. The cheeses were a bit bland, but salmon and salami were good. Muesli was also good. Blueberry juice is definitely worth a try.

Let me just say that Angela was fabulous. She really took time to get to know what we were interested in and make suggestions for places to eat. The other woman at the desk was not so great. She promised to make us a reservation at a restaurant a friend of ours (who's Icelandic) had suggested. But she called so late in the day that she was only able to get us in at 9:30pm. In addition, when she was cleaning our room, she threw out a container with my earplugs in it. Now, I've taken this little box all over the world, and obviously, it's never been an issue, but for some reason, she thought it was trash. The hotel offered to compensate me, but how could they get me a new pair of earplugs on a Sunday, right as we were heading out to another part of the country? So be careful about what you leave in plain sight.

This hotel is very close to the downtown area without being right on top of it. Parking was not an issue, and it is only about $8 for 24 hrs. I'd stay here again.

This hotel was perfect for us - great value for money with very comfortable beds and an amazing breakfast laid out each morning of breads, cheeses, meats, eggs, cereal, yogurt, fruit - it was delicious. The hotel is just a short walk from the centre but it's on a quiet street so you will not get disturbed by any of the centre's noise. The staff were so friendly and helpful and really went out of their way to make our stay perfect through making dinner reservations for us, bringing a dressing table with mirror to our room as we didn't have a mirror in the bedroom (this was totally unexpected but incredibly sweet) and even driving us to the bus station to catch our bus to the airport as we missed it outside the hotel. Outstanding customer service and I would definitely return.

This is a wonderful small hotel on a quiet residential street in short walking distance (less than 5 minutes) to the center of Reykjavik. Excellent value in a superb location. Clean nicely decorated room. Hotel provides a simple but lovely breakfast ..breads, cereals, yogurt, cheese and meats...in a small room on the ground floor. Very small in-room bathroom was basically equipped...no Kleenex (tissue) provided. Shower curtain needed to be replaced. No bottled water offered in rooms and noisy plumbing. Small matters given the pluses. Staff were warm, welcoming and helpful.

Room Tip: First floor or above....ground floor rooms looked very small and perhaps noisier because close to br...

For someone who wants to be close to the center but away from all the club/traffic noise, this is one of the best choices in Reykjavik. Close walking distance to Lagavegur but in a very quiet residential neighborhood. The staff is great and the rooms are nice; considering the price, it won't be easy to get a better deal for the money (paid 100 euros for 2 nights in a single, though I got a twin room upgrade at my arrival!). The breakfast is simple but enough and they even pack you a bag with food if you check out very early, as I did. The hotel is in a restored house, so everything is almost new. All in all, a great choice!

This hotel has a great location, great value for money, very kind, helpful (and nice looking) staff.
It's a few minutes walk from everything you might need in Reykjavik: harbour, bars, museums, the Harpa, restaurants.
And breakfast was really good: served downstairs, with coffee, cheese and ham, eggs, and all sorts of breads and yogurt.
The rooms are a bit small, but given the price of the room and the type of hotel (a private villa converted in hotel) it was not a big problem.
Will definitely come back here next time I go to Reykjavik

We took a bit of a chance with this one as there weren't many reviews online but it was fantastic. We arrived early and got into our room right away and was offered (free) breakfast! The hotel is in a quiet neighbourhood but only a few minutes walk from the main part of town where the tourist info centre is and also a few minutes from the old harbour. The hotel has been recently renovated and everything is clean and new. All the staff we met were incredibly helpful and friendly. Breakfast was "continental" but had a good selection of meat, cheese and salmon as well as cereal and fruit. I really can't recommend it enough.
