Go here to see the aurora away from the city lights of Reykjavik. There's no need to take a tour and risk no clear skies. We took a taxi from our central hotel and paid £10. But beware, they didn't come to pick us up when we called. However, the Icelanders are used to giving hitchikers' lifts, which is what we did eventually, because they also still wonder over the lights

Only 10 minutes from Reykjavik, good walks in daytime (if a bracing walk in March!) Opportunity to see the Northern Lights at night time away from the city lights

The lighthouse is colorful and located out on a peninsula in Reykjavik. The walking paths and views are worth your time early especially in the morning or at night. It's a good way to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city and relax. In the nesting season, the Kria (Arctic Tern) will dive bomb your head so walk quickly or hold a stick over your head (seriously).

Went out here to see the views from the top, but it was shut. Again it was very windy but the walk across the water was lovely and lots of Eider Ducks and shells.
