Stayed in OK Hotel beginning of October and it was simply perfect. Interior in retro style and the lobby area in a unique design.

The price quality balance is unbelievable, will definitely come back to this place. There is a self check-in system, we called it a James Bond way of checking in, worked out really efficient. Next to that the staff was really helpful and always reachable by phone.

When you ever visit Reykjavik book OK Hotel. Brilliant concept that feels like home!

Iceland was new to us - we were on an adventurous stop over en route to Canada. I found the OK Hotel online and booked after much humming and hawing, trying to decide between a 'proper hotel' and an apartment hotel like the OK.

We were so glad we we did The large room slept us all together and the mini kitchen meant we could resort to much needed beans-on-toast etc for children too tired to last in a restaurant.

The location was perfect, a great place from which to venture out and explore the city. We whale watched, we swam in the pools, we checked out the local landscape. It was a gorgeous trip and the OK Hotel made it achievable for exhausted little people.

The staff were superb, meeting us on arrival and showing us the ropes. The hotel was impeccably clean. And it was quiet: we had a front room one floor above the main street (weekend in August) and we weren't at all disturbed at any point.

Highly recommend.

OK Hotel has all elements that it could be a very good hotel. It has excellent location in Laugavegur, it also has nice decorations (in the room) and small kitchen which is really nice. It seems that hotel is run by amateurs. There is no-one in reception, we got the wrong docs in envelope, check-in process was confusing, there was sheets missing from our room, cleaning of the room does not happen every day and it smells funny in common area. It is fair to mention that we notified about some of the deficiencies they were fixed with a good attitude. But with a little bit better management this could come very good hotel. All things just needs to be done in a professional and strict attitude.

There is no one at the reception, you have to wait for a person to come to bring you the key or receive instruction on the phone about how to open the safe. In my case the instructions on the envelope containing my key in the safe was wrong and I could not get into my room.
Some of the rooms are not at the address advertised.
There is cafe at the address advertised but it is closed (mid sept. 2013).
There is no breakfast included.
The bathroom was not very clean: hair + dirt in the shower: not acceptable in the price range.
I received completely wrong information from my contact person at this hotel about the location of the bus terminal (there are at least two in Reykjavik)
There is no left luggage room at this address. You can use another one but you have to carry your luggage all the way to another place (300 m).
The staff is polite but does not seem to have any clue about how to solve problems, and not really any willingness to help.

Positive points: there was a kitchen in my room (convenient given that there is no possibility to get any breakfast in this ´hotel´)

The rooms at this hotel are beautifully finished in a modern and trendy design. The fittings are clean and new. The location is about as central as you can get. These were exactly the things I was looking for when I booked a room at this hotel. So, five months later, after a long journey, we arrived only to be told the hotel was fully booked. How could this be when I had received confirmation and payment had been taken 5 months earlier? The owner explained that he had an apartment that we could stay in up the road. The alternative accommodation was very nice and we had a pleasant stay once we were settled. I cannot, however, rate OK Hotel as anything more than 'poor' due to the way our booking was handled. Whether this is done through bad management or as an intentional way to fill their less popular properties, I do not know. I notice form seeing recent reviews that we are not the only people to experience this problem. I must say the owner was helpful and apologetic, but ultimately we object to money being taken from our account and then not being given the product that we thought we were paying for.

Each room is uniquely decorated and very well appointed. The location is terrific! Downtown but not noisy. We could walk to all the important places. The beds were comfortable, fresh and clean. Bathrooms exceptionally clean. A most enjoyable stay and certainly I will stay there again.

My wife and I recently stayed here for two night in early July. We were a little concerned with the recent reviews but everything worked out fine. The front lobby of the hotel is under construction but this didn't affect us in any way. We were also able to leave our bags safely in the lobby when we arrived much earlier than our check in time. The location was fantastic, rooms were clean and spacious, and the owner/staff friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend.
