A nice quiet place to stay in a safe neighborhood. Within walking distance of downtown. More of a hostel than hotel with shared bathroom. Room and bathroom were very clean and the beds were very comfortable. No TV in room. Enjoyed the complimentary breakfast and staff was very friendly and helpful.

I enjoyed my short stay, as I relaxed like never before. Slept like a baby in a comfortable bad, toilets and room were clean, breakfast great (especially the croissants freshly baked!) and the staff is really friendly and nice. I would recommend it to everybody - especially in the high season!

Hotel Floki guesthouse is ok if you are looking for a hostel. They have 5 houses that they rent out rooms. We missed the part where the reservation said toilet down the hall. The beds were comfortable, but the room smelled musty and damp. I asked for a first floor room, but had to go upstairs and down to get to it! With bad knees this was not a good thing. The door jambs were raised and I would stumble quite often going from one place to another. The desk clerk was helpful and attentive. We scheduled a Golden Circle tour thru the hotel and were pleased. The breakfast was good, many choices of things to eat.
It was a good place if you knew it was a hostel, but if you were expecting a hotel it was a little disappointing.

Dear mscjn55,

Thank you very much for your helpful review.
Hotel Flóki Guesthouse has a new owner and management team since last year and we are in the process of changing the name of Hotel Flóki Guesthouse for the same reasons that you mentioned in your review.
It takes time to change it but we have started already..... Reykjavik Hostel Village!

Hope you like it and we hope to see you back again.

Warm regards,
Lea

A very good hostel-style hotel, very reasonably priced. Walking distance from main street, the beautiful church, and the bay. I had a single room which had tea/coffee making facilities, hand basin and fridge, and the most deliciously comfortable bed; the shared bathroom was close by. Staff were very helpful and well-informed, and breakfast was excellent.

Overall Reykjavik and Iceland are very well-organised for tourism. Buses pick up and deliver from tours and the airport - it was such a relief (as a sole traveller) to know that someone would pick me up at 4am for my flight and that I wouldn't have to try to arrange it myself. Tour guides and others are experts on the culture, history and geology of Iceland, and justifiably proud of their country.
I had a wonderful 5 days, helped by my stay at Hotel Floki, and hope to go back

Room Tip: My room was in the Flokgata buliding, rather than the one on Storrabraut where reception is, and it...

Nice hotel with a good location in the centre. We staid for one night. The room was big and clean. The bathroom was not clean. The host was friendly and the breakfast ok.
