“Breathtaking Views”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 25, 2012

Loved the central location of this property, within waling distance of EVERYTHING in the city, but easy to drive right out to the country side. The views were incredible from the patio hot tub, even marveled at the light show provided by the Northern Lights on two nights. The staff was SO helpful. I can't wait to go back...I will definitely hang my hat here again.

Room Tip: Spring for a room on a high floor with a balcony...it's well worth it.

Great location, spacious, clean, comfortable. But, very noisy at night as it's in the middle of the bar/club scene in Reykjavik. If noise is a concern, find another. If location is what you're after, it's the place to be.

The rooms are large, modern, and stylish with a good little galley kitchenette. Unfortunately as it is centrally located it is noisy when the Runtur gets going on at the weekend! There are equally priced, more stylish apartments in the area that are just a street back of the main strip that means you'll get a better night's sleep before that early start to the Golden Circle! Check my other reviews for better Reykjavik aparts.

We stayed here for our wedding trip for three nights and overall, the standard of the accomodation is very high. The bathroom is a joy to behold and although it is quite pricey, we felt it was more than justified in the grandeur of the apartment. It is very contemporary and styled accordingly. It has a very homely feel and plenty of room for a couple of people.

The only downside which is nothing to do with the room is the occasional noise outside. It is right in the heart of the capital and the Icelanders like to party! Having said that, this isn't going to happen on a Monday night so a little advice would be to take ear plugs, just in case.

If you've never been to Iceland, you'll fall in love with the place.

Traveling with a group of 8 can be complicated, but Room With a View could not have made it easier! Ideal location, plenty of keys, apt was fabulous - spacious, clean, comfortable. Staff was super friendly and great with recommendations, even helped us deal with our horrible rental car company.

As the other reviews have noted, this hotel/apts are wonderfully located - right smack dab in the center of everything. We had Apt L152, which we loved for the space, kitchenette (sorely underused) fantastic bathroom, locations. We disliked for the noise. Every time we opened the bathroom door it was as if we were walking into a club due to the non-stop party behind the building. This was Thursday - Saturday night on a holiday weekend, so I can't speak to the noise level during the week. If it hadn't been for the noise (out of control of the establishment, know this if you go to Reykjavik, it is not an understatement that they party all night long! I'd open the window at 7 am and folks were still walking home) this place would've been fantastic. If you plan on partying with the best of them, this is a great spot. If I'd slept, I wouldn't have balked at the price if I had slept; since I didn't, seems a bit high. I think you just need to evaluate what you are looking for, and choose accordingly! As a fellow traveler I met along the way stated in her blog:
"You don’t have to choose a hotel/apartment based on location alone. By that I mean that Reykjavik is a VERY small town and almost all hotels are within only 1 mile of the city center. You can literally walk from one end of the main part of town to the other in 10 minutes or so. There are some places that are outside of walking distance, however, so make sure you’re within 1 mile. If you do choose to be in the center of the city, you will definitely hear the parties that take place on the weekend."
I concur with her evaluation. Since I've outgrown staying up all night, I will choose a location farther away from the center next time. That being said, I'd stay in our apt again under certain circumstances, and would recommend it to anyone traveling with the goal of joining in the nightlife and wanting to save money preparing their own meals.

Room Tip: There are two buildings. We were in Apt L152 across the street from the main building, which backs...

The staff was very accommodating and polite and the rooms excellent. The bathroom and sleeping accommodations were great for our extended family of 5. There was always plenty of hot water. There were some problems with the TV but we were having so much fun in Iceland we did not care about it. Two of the rooms did have a very nice view of the bay, but one room was directly over what must be the noisiest location in Reykjavik. However, we had been previously warned and brought earplugs and the window insulation was pretty good, so we just felt it was part of the Reykjavik experience. Do you really expect Vikings to be quiet on the weekend?

There is a lot of partying in the neighborhood, and our car mirror was broken (probably by someone carousing), so I am glad we got extra insurance. There are many activities within walking distance of the apartment, so a car is not really necessary anyway unless you expect to travel a lot around the country. Parking at the hotel was a bit of a problem sometimes, because there were often non-hotel people who were using the hotel's parking spaces, but again this is part of the Reykjavik summer party atmosphere. One should just smile and enjoy the music and midnight sun, because the Icelanders know that winter is once again just around the corner.
