“4 nights in Reykjavik”
Reviewed August 13, 2013

My spouse and I spent four days in a Luna apartment last week. Due to a very full occupancy connected to Gay Pride weekend, Ellert upgraded our reservation and we had a very spacious one bedroom--king size bed-- with a full kitchen and living room with a balcony that looked over the town. It was light and airy and very accessible to town and shopping. We could not have been happier with the space and location. Ellert and staff take time and effort to provide information and support. We certainly highly recommend their facilities for anyone traveling to Reykjavik.

We had a wonderful apartment during our stay in Reykjavik. Ellert and Kelly were very helpful when we arrived and could not do enough to help us get settled. We had been upgraded to a large one bedroom that was beautifully decorated, spacious, and equipped with everything you needed other than your clothes. I was ready to move in. Our apartment was near the tourist office on a quiet street, so centrally located to the shopping, harbor, everything. And quiet enough for sleeping (with a double bed which is not too common in Iceland). We even had a small balcony from which we can watch the sun beginning to set around 11:30pm.

Parking was free and available at the lot across the street. Grocery store was up the hill at the end of the street - 3 minute walk. Lovely restaurants and bars nearby. Fresh towels every other day. Tea, coffee in the apartment.

If you are planning to visit the city, this is the way to go...

I had spent ages researching where to stay in Reykjavik and was very specific in my search for a 3 bedroom property as our children do not sleep well together in the same room. I booked a 3 bedroom apartment with Luna in January which was all confirmed. However, when I contacted them a couple of days before our trip in July I was told that they had changed our booking to a 2 bedroom apartment. I was VERY upset but at this late stage we could do nothing. When we turned up Ellert was very apologetic and gave us a discount on the rate for the apartment. It was an excellent apartment, very small bedrooms though which gave us a challenge fitting in a camp bed and meant rearranging the furniture. But the living space was big with a very nice well equipped kitchen. It also came with an underground parking space which although parking in the city isn't difficult did make life very easy. So if we'd been after and booked a 2 bedroom apartment I'd have rated this as 5star but as it wasn't what we booked which is quite a major issue so I'm not. In effect I see this as a broken contract as they confirmed a 3 bedroom apartment so take a risk if you book that you might not get what you think you've booked.

Luna Apartment Hotel have several properties in town, we stayed in the top-floor apartment on Midstraet - house number 4.

The booking was easy via Hotels.com and we received a advance email from Luna with advice about transport from the airport, and local car hire - all very useful and appreciated.

The Luna team on arrival were very friendly and helpful - took us to the property which was a couple of hundred metres from the Luna office and located close to the old town centre.

The apartment was perfect - spacious, light, stylish, recently decorated and refurbished to a very high standard. It was equipped with new kit - including wi-fi, wide screen TV, iPod dock, washing machine, dryer etc etc. Also a lovely balcony looking over the lake and town.

Highly recommended.

PS in summer bring eyeshades to help you sleep, it stays bright almost round the clock..........

We thoroughly enjoyed our 3 night stay at the Luna Hotel Apartments. We stayed in a "penthouse suite" apartment, which is one of Ellert's five properties. We had a fabulous view of "downtown." I watched the sunset at 1:00 a.m.! It never gets dark in June, so be sure to bring eye masks! The apartment was large, very clean and well equipped with a full kitchen. There is a fabulous bakery a couple of blocks away, so we stocked up on goodies for our breakfasts. Tea and coffee are provided. The apartment is so modern, right out of an IKEA catalog. Ellert was very helpful with directions, restaurants, and things to do in Reykjavik. We loved his dinner suggestion of the Fish Market. It was one of the best meals of our lives! This apartment was way better than staying in a typical hotel! Its location is perfect for exploring Reykjavik! Highly recommended!

This is a central and convenient property. The unit was well equipped and the bed comfortable. Excess cuishonry on the bed. They throw in coffee and tea which is appreciated. On the down side it's just silly little things like hair in the bedside drawer and long hairs on the bath towels coupled with an unannounced visit from the maid who neither knocked nor responded to 'NO THANKS!' The artificial orchids are a big mistake. In summer this is a very light place. There's no darkness outside.
The owner is a chatty and helpful guy and the reception staff helpful. The location is ideal and you can easilly walk to the domestic airport and bus station. No lift (elevator in American) for the less able though. A bit over-priced but would consider staying there again.
Iceland is an amazing country.
