“Best Apartment in Reykjavik!!”
Reviewed September 11, 2012 via mobile

Stayed at one of Luna's penthouse apartments in a separate building -- all new furnishings (very Scandinavian look!), balcony looking across the city core, LOTS of space, and a fully equipped kitchen & laundry -- WOW!! We were travelling on a group excursion and I think really lucked-out with the best accomodation of anyone on the tour. We got to see a different Luna ground-floor unit and it was pretty terrific too.

The owner and staff are very helpful and friendly, and the location is incredibly easy to get anywhere. Used the nearby supermarket to stock-up on breakfasts and our first night dinner, and simply found that all of it together made for a fantastically relaxed and easy long weekend stay in Iceland's biggest city. Highly recommend Luna over the bigger hotels.

A very nice hotel in a very quiet place very close the city centre. A bakery and a supermarket is very close to the hotel and you can buy anything you need during your stay. A typical building of Iceland. We really enjoyed our stay. The manager of the hotel is very friendly and helpful.

The owner Ellert was absolutely fantastic both post booking and during our stay and upgraded us to a recently refurbed penthouse with all the best mod cons. The apartment was located 5 mins from shops, restuarants (which are a foodies paradise) and the various tourist information/excursion companies.
Thanks Ellert for making our honeymoon so special.

Recently stayed for 6 nights with a small child in one of the 2-bedroom units. We were a few blocks away from the main location. It was a great location - really, really close to the city center. Also close to a Bonus supermarket and a bakery. Walking distance to some good restaurants. The apartment was lovely - just like the photos and absolutely spotless and tastefully decorated. We had a washer only (there was an indoor drying rack thing that worked OK for drying). The only issue we had was the noise. A very loud family was above us. Also, the bedroom facing the road got a lot of noise during weekend nights - loud partiers and drunk people outside. The unit could use better soundproofing - if it all possible.

We arrived at the Luna Hotel Apartments and checking in was easy and speedy. We were expecting a 3 bedroom apartment and were pleasantly surprised to be given a 4 bedroom apartment which was absolutely gorgeous and clean.

It had 2 double rooms and 2 twin rooms with 3 bathrooms. The beds were very comfortable. As there was only the 4 of us this was just fantastic. Definitely no queues for the bathroom on this holiday! The apartment also had a fully equipped kitchen which was very useful.

The apartment was in an ideal location in Reykjavik with plenty of supermarkets and shops within a 5-10 minute walk.

All in all, the apartment and trip was fantastic. Would definitely recommend the Luna Hotel Apartments.

We were a group of 12 friends and visited Reykjavik and south Iceland in early June. Luna Hotel Apartments have several buildings and we rented two apartment units in two separate buildings, 6 of us in each apartment. The buildings are within very short walking distance from each other, and we could easily visit with our friends, even at midnight because it was still bright and Reykjavik felt so safe.
One is on Laufásvegur, a 3-bedroom plus loft and 2 bathrooms. The other is on Amtmannsstígur and has 4 bedrooms, and 2 and 1/2 bathrooms. Every good thing that's been said about the apartments are definitely true. Kitchen is well appointed, bathrooms modern and clean. The Laufásvegur apartment is on 2 levels, and 3 if including the loft. The 1st level, which is street level, has an ensuite. Then you go up a narrow staircase to the main level which has the 2 bedrooms, very spacious kitchen, sitting, dining area and another full bath. The loft has 4 more beds, but we did not use that. I like the Laufásvegur apartment for the view over pond, and there's also a small courtyard at the front entrance where you can sit and talk a little bit when we visited each other. The Amtmannsstígur 4-bedroom apartment is on the top floor of a building. So bringing up the luggage could be a challenge if you have a lot. This apartment is on one floor and all 4 bedrooms are good size. Kitchen is not as spacious as the one in Laufásvegur, but still a good size and as well equipped. I like this apartment for the extra 1/2 bath. Also since two of our friends are not a couple, they could each have their own rooms, no need to share!! There's a deck too, but not much view from there.
Both apartments are well located for walking around the city. I recommend walking versus driving if you want to see the city. Parking is easy around the apartments, especially since we were out early and arrived back late and there were always street parking available, no need to pay. However, in the very city centre, streets are often one way and narrow. I highly recommend getting a GPS if you plan to rent a car. It may look easy to get from point A to B, but because of the one way situation, it's easier if you are guided by the GPS.
Iceland is totally amazing. It's beyond description, and no photos can do it justice. You have to see it. Definitely go in the summer when there's 24 hours of daylight so you can pack a lot of activities in. There just did not seem to be enough time to see and experience it all. We'll be back and will definitely stay in Luna again.
