“Convenient Tourist Hotel”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 31, 2013

Stayed 3 nights (july 19 and again July 25-26) as part of tour package. First night twin room was really tiny--clean comfortable but tiny with tiny bath but we were only there for about 10 hours so no big deal. 2nd stop for two nights had a very large room facing the front which was also very comfortable. (it was a real blessing to be able to open the windows and get some air after several nights of travel where we were attacked by flys when we opened screenless windows at various lodgings around the country). Breakfast was good--nice selection and good coffee. Desk clerks were helpful with directions and information. The location is perfect for walking around and seeing the sits in Rekyavik. There's a nice little restaurant across the street that has soup and salad bar that is delicious. Hotel Baron also has parking which was great since we had a car a couple of nights.

Room Tip: Ask for a larger room if you are going to be there more than a night. the small rooms really are and...

I stayed here for two nights with a friend while traveling in southern Iceland. The location is excellent - we walked everywhere to all of the sights in Reykjavik. The breakfast was very good - we didn't have dinner there, so I can't comment on that. The front desk staff was very helpful and eager to give directions and suggestions. We were in a room with two twin beds. The room was quite large. The carpet was a bit worn, but the beds, linens, and bathroom were very clean and comfortable. It would have been nice if we could have opened more than two small windows since it was quite warm in the room, but then again, the noise outside would have been too much. The first night was relatively quiet, but the second night (Friday), it was very loud outside. Not the hotel's fault, but a little thicker of windows would have helped. The elevator is quite slow, but not to the point of extreme annoyance. Overall, it's a pretty good hotel and very convenient to the main sights of Reykjavik.

I stayed her for 4/5 nights in February, we wanted a hotel in town so we could walk round the city and the bay, so this was perfect. Just think of it as a Premier Inn, its exactly the same, the rooms are fine and a good size, we asked for a water view, we got one, just - i think we paid extra, but in hind site, would not have bothered, its really not worth it. Like everyone in Iceland the staff were lovely, informative, helpful and polite. we only had breakfast in the dining room, but it was fine. would stay again if i was lucky enough to visit the city again.

Room Tip: there really is no sea view from this hotel as is surrounded by other hotels and buildings in all di...

Stayed here for 2 nts at the start and 2 nts at the end of a 9 day riding tour with Ishestar and having previously stayed at the majority of the Fosshotels around Iceland this was as great as the others. Don't complain about not having Wifi ...your on HOLIDAY! Great breakfast and professional and knowlegable service from reception. Had a sea view room for the 1st 2 nts which was great our last 2 nts were in a standard room which was equally good but without the Sea view..but after 9 days horseriding we were so tired it didn't matter anyway!

Stayed in this hotel for 4 nights in May 2013. The hotel is relatively basic, but clean and serves a purpose as a base whilst in Reyjavik. Room was OK, a little tired, bathroom relatively basic. Breakfast was good, although didn't quite understand the hype of the waffles on Tripadvisor as they were rather messy to make (most people didn't quite understand the instructions so waffle liquid was everywhere!). Staff were friendly and helpful. Location was great, we walked almost everywhere.

Good location, close to town and the waterside.
Come on Fosshotel it's 2013 even the very small, remote farm stays offered free wifi. Surely the price of the room could cover this. We couldn't park on site which wasn't ideal and housekeeping decided to knock on our door and wake us up just after 8!
The staff at breakfast were non communicative at best verging on rude. Our room was reasonably large with a nice view but the reception on the news channel was appalling. We complained and apparently it's a known problem which management haven't dealt with. I would choose somewhere else to stay.

We recently stayed at this hotel in Reykjavik and had a fabulous room overlooking the water. We were on the 5th floor so were not bothered by the buildings across the street and could enjoy the view. The staff were excellent and very helpful calling to arrange a transfer for us and providing information of Reykjavik. The breakfast was great, lots of variety and tasty. The location very central and easy to access the downtown and major attractions. I would definitely stay at this hotel again.

Room Tip: We asked for a room with a view and it was excellent. We were on the 5th floor overlooking the wate...
