“good start to our holiday.”
Reviewed July 30, 2013

Quiet location ,Clean modern guesthouse, well equipped kitchen, coffee provided, Clean room,
shared single bathroom, clean good size, other guests were very considerate.
Herman was very welcoming, we went sightseeing and could return and eat lunch when we wanted, The kitchen is well organised for multiple users of the fridge .
A washbasin in the room would be a great help, as the bathroom serves I think 5 rooms.
Thanks to a special effort by Herman we were able to get into our room early on Sunday morning, after an overnight flight, so could sleep.

Room Tip: All rooms should be fine.

When with a car, a very good location, near the city center. Easy to reach Brand new kitchen fascilities, free good coffee, very clean room, very nice and welcoming owner. Only one bathroom to share. Still, very much recommended!

Room Tip: There are a few rooms only, all seemed prety much the same

personally this is not my kind of place because of location and especially the owner of the house ...
he is strange control freak guy who has no sense of hospitality , he treats guest as his own wife - telling you where to eat , how to eat , when to leave the house ..
if you are in your room he wants to talk, you lock to the door but he is knocking and asking to talk ...
very cheap settings and not friendly house - more like scary ones ... find better place around

This guesthous was just opened this year so every thing looks like it is brand new and is verry beautyfully deccoradet. The rooms for the solo use are quite small but good enaugh thoug, with one bed, night table and small shelf. The rooms all share one bathroom wich is a good size and offers good varity of sope's and shampoo's for guest to use. The kitchen is also for all guest to use full equipted and you even don't have to wash your dishes. The hospitality is no. 1 and I reccommend to people that want the personal service to book a room here, it almost feels like you are just staying at your relatives for the night;-) Extra plus is that Hermann, the owner, is a taxi driver so you can take a lift where ever you want to go, even to the airport I have heard;-)

Very inviting guesthouse, clean and brand new facilities, within walking distance of a grocery store, liquor store, bus to take you downtown as well. The owner of Helga, Hermann is very hospitable and also runs his own taxi service, making it very easy to get anywhere. He's more than willing to help with any questions about Reykjavik. Would definitely stay here again if visiting Iceland.

Iceland was certainly one of out family's greatest trips ever. We stayed at Guesthouse Helga and would love to stay there again. Transportation from the airport was no problem at all. Hermann, Helga's husband, is a taxi driver and we were promptly picked up and taken to town. Herman and Helga have a beautiful home and are gracious hosts. There are 5 separate locked rooms, a shared bath and kitchen. All of the rooms are warm and accomodating. The beds are very comfortable and the linens felt like new. Very peaceful, it was lovely to wake up to the sounds of birds chirping. The kitchen is very well supplied and the grocery store is only a 5-10 minute walk away. This made preparing meals easy and affordable instead of eating out all of the time. Across the street is a large park that my husband and I took many morning walks at. It has an ice rink, swimming pool, animal park, botanical garden and sports stadium. Downtown Reykjavik is no more than a five minute drive away. Hermann and Helga were very helpful in all of our tourist activities. They arranged whale watching, horseback riding at Laxnes Horse Farm (www.laxnes.is), the Blue Lagoon, and a car rental for us to do a self guided tour of The Golden Circle and the Glacier Lagoon, Jokurlsarlon. My husband is an avid fly fisherman, and Hermann arranged a guided fishing trip as well. Unfortunately our 9 day trip was too short, yet left us wanting more. Our daughter now wants to move there......we will be back for sure and will definately stay at Guesthouse Helga.
