I loved this place! We had seven people so we rented a three bedroom apartment which is on the top floor. The owner was very nice and helpful when we needed some advice on where to see northern light. Here are several things we like about this place:

Pro:
1). Kitchen: It is big and is equipped with all the utensil you need to make meals.
2). Location: It's closed to a lot of restaurants and the 24 hour supermarket. It is also closed to the the Hallgrímskirkja (Lutheran church) in the capital.
3). Comfort & Cleaniness: Beds are comfortable and sheets are clean. Towels and bathrooms are clean. We all rested very well.
4). Internet Connection: There's a router inside that apartment, so the wifi connection is good.

Con:
1). Stairs: If you rent this three bedroom apartment, you may need to carry your luggage to four flights of stairs. Those stairs are steep. However, the owner did try to help us to carry.

Overall, If I visit Iceland again, I would definitely stay at this place again.

Myself and three friends have just spent three nights in Reykjavik staying at Rey Apartments. The location is excellent as the main street is one street down so you’re very close to everything in town without being disturbed by all the noise on the main street. The apartments were lovely and spacious and the beds were extremely comfortable. I can’t think of one negative thing to say about our stay here and would (and will) recommend this place to anyone who is looking to stay in Reykjavik.

Rey Apartments is very well placed and within walking distance of everything you need to visit in Reykjavik. Our apartment was large and comfy. Beds a little on the small side, but after visiting a good restaurant, one sleeps like a log anyway. The owner is full of solutions to every problem or query that pops up. We would recommend Rey to anyone visiting Reykjavik.

Room Tip: No elevator, so go for the lower floors.

I was in Iceland for a Bachlorette party. Our tour company chose the Rey Apartments for our accommodations. Great choice! Gear was there to greet us and was super nice. He answered all our questions, and we had plenty of them. Try to get to get the room on first level since there is no elevator. But Gear was very kind to lend us a hand with the bags so no biggie. We were 5 girls so we got two rooms. One studio which was spacious and another 1 bedroom which fit 3 beds for our first night. Both rooms were well equipped with stove, microwave, dishes, cups etc... Slept very well in my bed. Also stayed there on our last night and we got a 2 bedroom wich had 6 beds but only had one bathroom. It worked out just fine but probably would get 2 separate rooms next time in order to get the second bath. Still, I would recommend because it was central to shops, restaurants, and bars.

Room Tip: First floor if it's hard to climb stairs.

We just came back from an overnight stay at the Rey after 5 days trekking in Iceland. The Rey is a design heaven-everything from the lobby (great images on walls, lighting, pops of color) to the pared-down, perfectly proportioned rooms, are an eye-feast. Our room was super cozy, but quite large and light and I loved the bathroom (great shower arrangement. We had seen our friends' room the previous week (they also loved the Rey) and we knew we wanted to stay when we returned to Reykjavik. Lastly, but not at all least, the staff was terrific-very warm, welcoming and helpful. A total recommend!

Loved it. Stayed for 1 night in a 1 bedroom apartment. It was very modern and clean. Bathroom was clean and one of the best in iceland.
The apartment was one of the biggest we stayed in while in iceland.Would definitley recommend.

I expected centrally located and clean self catering accomodation.

What I got was the most convenient location you could get in Reykjavic, Walking distance to pretty much anything you want to do In Reykjavic. Plus it was Super Clean, and Super Stylish!

And on top of that the owners were Fantastic. We had a little "medical emergency" while we were in Iceland, and Gier was amazing. He made lots of phone calls for us, gave us great advice, and was able to get us accommodate us when we needed more nights at the when we missed our tour to the West Fjords.

Really over and above what one would expect at self catering accommodation. More like what one would expect at the concierge of a full service hotel.

During our stay I was able so see a number of the apartments at the Rey, and I have to tell you that they are all amazing. Especially the "Penthouse" on the fourth floor. If you are traveling with a group or largish family - you have to stay here!!!!!

I would definitely stay here again!

Room Tip: There are no phones or alarm clocks in the apartments. Bring your own.
