Attached to a fantastic hotel this is a competent bistro serving interesting food at moderate prices. We had thier Christmas buffet which was a nice selection of things. Good house wine.

“Avoid the Christmas menu”
Reviewed December 21, 2012

We had the small Christmas menu when we visited. It consisted of several different types of herring, all prepared differently - some of it was inedible. The main course, the pig, was more fat than pig and we had to leave most of it. The dessert was a curd, rather than ice cream or cake, and had a strange taste. We left it also. The cafe itself is lovely and the staff helpful, but that menu was horrible!

“This place deserves to be in Reykjavik's top 5”
Reviewed December 1, 2012

Just back from a lovely long weekend in Reykjavik. When we weren't sightseeing (or hibernating), we were oot and aboot sampling some of Reykjavik's finest restaurants - there are lots!

We got stuck one evening (book ahead if you have your heart set on something/somewhere special) and ended up calling all the restaurants on Trip Advisor in order of popularity. We ended up at Snaps and all I can say is that it's a lovely place with fabulous food. We couldn't believe that it was #36 on Trip Advisor so clearly more people need to go and soon. I would rank it higher than a few of the places in the current top 5.

“Great place!”

What a great dinner! Vibrant place with delicious food. Reasonable prices. Full on a Thursday night with locals. Definitely nice to step off the tourist beaten path.

“Excellent food in nice restaurant”
Reviewed November 20, 2012

Overall the food is excellent, the atmosphere is nice and relaxed and the prices are more than reasonable compared to other restaurants in Reykjavik.
The menu is rather small (~ 6 main courses) which is for me a good sign as the food tends to be fresh. The menu doesn't sound very Icelandic (many French courses, the fish of the day was salmon so I found fish choice limited on that day, etc.) but I must admit the food was really tasty.
Finally, the service was not bad but could have been a bit more enthusiastic.
In a nutshell it looked to me the restaurant was less touristy than other places in Reykjavik and I would recommend it.
