Easy to check in/out. Breakfast had a lot of choices and was solid, although nothing was overly impressive. Got the job done. The room was clean and comfortable. Only had a few TV channels, which isn't too big a deal. The bathroom wasn't very private as it was translucent glass doors that opened right into the rest of the room. Hotel lobby bar was pretty busy, and we enjoyed the drinks we had there. Can't beat the location - close to marina, Sea Baron (great soup), and the main shopping/dining streets.

Room Tip: Enjoyed the view of the harbor.

Great hotel with fantastic decor, friendly staff, brilliant food and perfect location. Rooms on the road side of the hotel are very noisy, to the point where it was difficult to sleep. However, we asked for a different room on the other side of the hotel and this was accommodated.

Room Tip: We asked for a harbour view room prior to travelling but were given a room on the other side of the...

Stayed here in February 2013 for 5 nights. Stayed in one of the rooms on the top floor with a balcony facing the sea. The view was amazing with Mount Esja and being able to see the Harpa and right along the shore line. On our first night we even managed to see the Aurora in the distance from the balcony! Room was a decent size and was well equipped, was nice and warm and heard no nice from outside despite lots of goings on from the docks and the bar. The hotel was excellent, really quirky with all the statues and pieces of art. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was probably the best breakfast selection i have had in a hotel, great fresh food and always replaced if running low. The bar was great to have a drink in and had a very nice atmosphere, drinks were cheaper than we expected especially around happy hour which was 4 till 6, also ate from the bar menu one night and the food was brilliant.
Hotel was in a great location, very close to the city centre, right next to the harbour if you wanted to go on a boat trip. One of the best holidays I have had and a big part of that was due to the fantastic hotel. Recommended it to a few friends who have since been and they have all had just as good a time.

Room Tip: rooms on the top floor have a balcony and an amazing view on the sea side of the hotel.

My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights in November as part of an Icelandair package and we were very pleased with the accommodations. The decor is quirky and fun, the staff friendly, the rooms very comfortable and super clean, and you can't beat the location. We were within walking distance of pretty much everything we wanted to see. When we arrived on the redeye they were kind enough to give us the option to wait for our room to be available, or to check into a different room for the one night and then switch over - we opted for the latter, and the different room was a 'family' room with a double bunk bed - fun. When we switched, we were on a higher floor. Both rooms had fun decor, flat screen tv, warm down duvet covers and a view of the marina and the mountains.

There is a restaurant and bar at the hotel which were cozy and the food was good - we added the breakfast to our stay and it was a great decision - I couldn't stop raving about how good the breakfast buffet was - a large array of traditional Icelandic items and something for everyone, constantly replenished, fresh and tasty and even the coffee was great. I'd almost go back just for the breakfast!

We rented a car for part of the time we were there, the hotel has a tiny parking lot but there was also on street parking available within a block or two. Otherwise it was very easy to catch a taxi or shuttle from there. There were also several very good restaurants within walking distance of the Marina hotel.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view of the water and mountains (versus on the street side)

We have just returned from our first visit to Iceland where we stayed at the Icelandair Hotel Marina.
Whilst our attic room was small compared with U.K. Hotels (it seems that bijou and compact is the norm in Iceland), we had a great view of the harbour and the facilities were excellent. Every member of staff -from reception through dining and bar staff to the chambermaids - were very friendly and efficient and nothing was too much trouble. A great place, popular with both tourists and locals and in a very good location. When we go back to Iceland we will use this hotel again.

On my way to New York again and taken advantage of the spacial fare with Icelandair when you stop over in Iceland. Stopped at the Blie Lagoon on way into town from airport. 2 hours in enough. Very slick transfer. Lovely to be back at The Marina Hotel. They have everything just right here. Very quirky and trendy but also have the service perfect which I feel is the most important thing. Fun and friendly staff. We asked our waitress where to go to sample the famously crazy weekend nightlife and sugested a few places. All were fantasic and "age appropriate!" ( We are getting on a bit ). Our room this time is slightly smaller but all the main things are right - great bed and bedding. Small shower room but fantastic shower and PLEASE don't worry about the glass walls/doors. Its fun. If you are worried bring earplugs and a blindfold. Well done to the entire team at this hotel. Hope to be back in Feb with the family.

Just got back from a 4 night stay at the Marina. Enjoyed it so much, I contacted the reservations to enquire about upgrading from a standard double to a deluxe and was told it would be an extra £30 per day. I decided not to go ahead with it and I'm glad I didn't as the standard double was more than sufficient, it was cosy but we had everything we needed. Like everyone else says the sliding door of the bathroom doesn't offer 100% privacy but I'm not shy so hey ho. The staff were terrific, really friendly and gave me some excellent advice on trips, places to eat etc. The breakfasts and food in the bar area were lovely, even when the bar was busy you can always get a seat/table, there are lots to choose from. The prices of the food and drinks were on par with other places in the city. If I go back to Iceland I will definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: I think rooms on the 3rd floor facing the Marina are slightly bigger than the ones on the road side
