we were also going to stay at the Radisson but changed to the Marina.... what a great place to chill out over the festive period. We were given incredible service from the moment we booked in until the day we left... nothing was to much trouble for any of the hotel staff. Yes the rooms are not large but why stay in your room when ther city has so much to offer. We stayed in room 406 which had great views of the harbour ( upgrade which was well worth the extra cost ) The rooms need more drawers for clothes etc as we were staying for 5 days there was not anywhere to place them...so most of our clothes stayed in the suitcase . Only one small issue .... no tea/coffee services in the room which I think the Manager will attend to . Would like to thank the resturant staff especially Alba and " Elmo " ! for their willingness to make sure that we were well catered for ...nobody could have made us more welcome than they did !

Room Tip: marina side is a good choice

We stayed in a marina facing room from 24-27 December and agree with the other reviews of this new-ish hotels! We stayed 3 nights and were impressed with the service and rooms. Rooms were small but had everything we needed and everything was clean. The restaurant was delicious and the breakfast that was included was amazing! The staff were really friendly and went out of their way to help us - they have us an extra 2 hours to check out which helped with our connection to the airport! All in all amazing value, walking distance to everything and highly recommended to others. We will be back!

I changed by hotel from the Radisson because of the reviews on this hotel, and I have to say that its even better than what others have been saying.

I arrived early, midday, and it wasn't a problem to check-in, no hanging around or fuss - and yes the free wifi is still there and fast! You get the instructions for how to use it when you check in.

My room wasn't the largest in the world, but the bathroom although small is well designed. There is plenty of room to store clothes, and there is a HUGE television. Although I was on the roadside, I could hear some traffic, but really it wasn't a problem. Actually I didn't experience any noise problems, even from the bar.

Breakfast was very good, and the coffee some of the best I have had in a hotel in a long time - all round it should be highly commended for the choice.

This is somewhere that you could stay over and over again, and really deserves its ranking on Trip Advisor.

Room Tip: Have a room on the 3rd or 4th floor.

Very good hotel in an excellent location. Friendly and helpful staff and good food washed down with Happy Hour drinks. The quirky wooden statues and the notices in the room raised a smile. Would stay here again without hesitation.

I have just returned from a 4 night stay at the Marina. What a hotel. From the second you walk in you are made to feel so welcome. We were in room 326 with stunning views overlooking the harbour.

The room was beautiful and very clean. In keeping with Icelandic tradition every morning we woke to find a present from the cheeky Yule Lads. Very classy touch!

The breakfast was great with plenty of choice. We ate in the restaurant for one night and were very impressed. One word of caution to the ladies though, dress up!

The location was stunning, being a short walk from the centre with breathtaking views of the dry dock and snowy mountains.

The staff went out of their way to help us and you could not fault their service - something we encountered across the whole of Reykjavik. Very friendly people.

We booked a few excursions such as gulfoss, the geysirs, whale watching and of course Northern Lights. We were very honoured to catch the tiniest glimpse of the lights - I can only dream of what they look like in full effect!

Overall I was blown away with the hotel and country in general. You would be mad to book anywhere else! Would highly recommend.

Runtor the boozing up by the "mad" people of Iceland on a Friday night is great, IF (capital letters, notice dear reader)your young but I 'aint so it was a tad noisy on the Friday night Saturday morning (6pm-5am uh huh 5AM!! ). But back to the hotel. It is very very good, centrally located with views over the harbourt and an easy walk into the centre. The breakfast was plentiful and filling with a good selection of Scandinavian food stuffs. The room we had was large and modern with a high power shower and thick walls so no noise from next door. 9.5/10 I'd say. A great package in a great hotel. And Iceland what a treat.

Room Tip: If you can't beat them join them escpecially on the Friday night pub crawl!

Stayed here for four nights and chose it because it looked like a fun, nice place near the city center. That turned out to be true. We stayed in a standard room on the second floor facing the street (I guess harbor views are for premium rooms) and it was very quiet. The room isn't very spacious, but it's not cramped either. It's a bit weird to have the bathroom in such close proximity to the bed (just a sliding glass wall), but you get used to it. The bathroom is also small, but also not cramped. I loved the shampoo/body wash they provided, it smelled amazing. The TV has many English language channels to choose from, but they're mostly news channels. Bed was super comfortable.

When we arrived on Saturday night the place was packed with locals getting drinks and dinner. A place that's popular with the locals is always a good sign. The hotel restaurant is a bit pricey. The hostess was great in squeezing us in without a reservation to grab a quick bite of dessert. They had some of the most amazing chocolate cake we've ever had.

The breakfast was fantastic, but expensive (around $18 per person). There's a nice selection of cereals, oatmeal, fruits, bread, cake, fresh fish, potatoes, etc. But if you have an early morning pickup for a tour or the airport, it's the easiest option.

Though the hotel did not advertise it, there was free wi-fi in the room (and a fast connection too) and I hope they keep it that way.

Staff was very helpful with every question we had and helped with restaurant recommendations and tour confirmations. They were even very polite and comped us one breakfast because there was a miscommunication with the price (it may be cheaper if you pay for them in advance).

The location right on the waterfront is very neat as the ships in drydock are right by the door. And it's a very short walk into the main part of downtown.

Would definitely return here again. Maybe even spring for an attic room facing the water.
