We were dropped off at 5:30AM. You can imagine how tired we were. We enquired if we could do an early check-in. The person at the front desk was very compassionate and helpful. Although the room our travel agent had booked for us was not immediately available, there was an upgraded room that was free. The upgraded room is on the top floor, facing the dry dock. The room is compact, but clean and bright. The washroom is super small, but that wasn't a problem for us. There isn't anywhere to put your own shampoo in the shower, but the sink is right there on the other side - you can just reach out. In July, it doesn't ever get dark, but we were so exhausted, we fell asleep quickly. The breakfast is outstanding. They provide a huge buffet spread so it's not your typical American breakfast.

The location is in downtown Reykjavik so it's easy to get around by foot.

We only stayed for one night, but it was an enjoyable stay, and we would not hesitate to book with them again.

Reykjavik Marina is situated at the old harbor, next to a still operating shipyard. You wake up to a beautiful harbor full of life and only a few blocks to down town Reykjavik.

Highly recommended!
Loyalty program: Saga Club Icelandair
Free wifi

The hotel is modern and quirky like the Icelandic alter ego. The lobby bar is great fun and a hot meeting place in Reykjavik.

Conference facilities: The Hotel has a super cool, small, 25 seat, movie theater great for presentations but has to be booked in advanced.
The rooms are small but functional, kudos to the computer/TV plugins.

Rooms: Upper level rooms are better due to a noisy street on the north side and a noisy lobby and smokers area on the south side. South facing rooms have great view over the old harbor and the mountains but the north facing rooms on the fourth floor has great balconies and sunshine. The rooms at the end of the east wing on the fourth floor are bigger and have huge balcony.
The hotel is in walking distance to most attractions and restaurants in Reykjavik and just next door to the whale watching hub of Reykjavik. Across the street on the north side is a great small restaurant called Forrettabarinn with an in-house design shop. At the east corner (Towards down town) is the Hamborgarabullan the best burger joint in town. Further down the street there is a great steak house but the best restaurants are a 10 min walk further towards the center.

Element of surprise – What is it with the blue line?
Just in front of the lobby there is a blue line in many different colors of blue. Following it to the right will take you past some restaurants, cafés and souvenir shops alongside the harbor all the way to Harpa the concert hall and Kolabrautin restaurant. Following it to the left it will take you past the maritime museum (Not so good) and lead you almost to the door of one of the oldest and most traditional café in Reykjavik, the Kaffivagninn. Strong Cup of Joe, old fashioned cakes and sandwiches are the treat of the day but the atmosphere and the harbor outside the window make up for all what it flaws in taste and service. It opens 7.45 weekdays and 8.45 on weekends and gives a glimpse into another side of Reykjavik.

I stayed here for 4 nights during a recent business trip to Iceland. I was booked into this hotel by the corporate travel agent so I didn't have a choice of hotels.

The hotel is located between the marina and a busy road. One side of the hotel offers views of the enormous ships and the other side the street. I was placed in a street side room. The room was very, very small. Luckily I was only one person, but it would be tight and uncomfortable for two people. The street was loud and busy and could be clearly heard while trying to sleep. There are no black out curtains provided - so light is always streaming into your room from the street lights outside.

The flooring was a pergo style floor, which I appreciate for cleanliness, however, when I can hear all guests in the surrounding units, including below me, walking on the floors - I began to detest that floor. Also, when guests would close the door to their rooms, my walls would shake - to the point of startling me awake if it occured while sleeping. The street noise was loud, but one morning I also heard the horn sounding from a ship.

Now to the bathroom. It is sectioned off with a frosted glass sliding door. The bathroom is unbeliveably small. Crazy small. Bang my elbows a number of times small. The shower is the size of a RV shower. The bathroom is a wet bathroom - meaning the water from the shower goes onto the bathroom floor and a drain is in the floor. So almost the entire floor was covered in water - making me walk very carefully. Not to mention using electric hairdryers. There are no soap trays or anyplace to put your soap, shampoo, razor, etc. while showering. But the bathroom is so small, I placed them on the toilet lid and just reached down to get them. Ladies, forget shaving in here unless you're a gymnast. They provide a pump style soft soap in the shower that is to be used for body and hair. Luckily I read a review about this before and brought my own.

Do not expect to find an iron, ironing board, or coffee maker in the room. This is a bare bones room. Euro-minimalist with Ikea style furnishings.

A refrigerator is available in the lobby with light snacks - sandwiches, yogurt (Skyr), fruit, candy, and drinks. The hotel has a bar that serves small plate meals. I did not eat here but did have a couple drinks and it was nice to have that option.

The breakfast served in the morning had eggs, potatos, fish, fruit, cereal, toast, pastries, juice, coffee and tea.

The hotel provides a small gym. My coworker was interested in using the gym until he took a look at it. It is in the lobby in a glass enclosed room. Think fishbowl. He was uncomfortable with the idea of working out in a glass room in the lobby like he was on display.

The location is in downtown Reykjavik - so it was easy walking distance to local sites and restaurants.

Overall - I would definately not stay here again. I informed the travel agent to update my travel profile to exclude this hotel in the future. My coworker had the same complaints and also had his profile updated. Neither of us would return.

We have been in country x 6 days. A new city and hotel each night. This one is located downtown and within walking distance of self laundry, restaurants, shopping and the port. Our room is fine...but with the way the bed is placed and the slant of the ceiling is at an angle and one hits one's head easily. I'm shorter than my husband and will be the one to get conked. It is also hard to regulate the room temp. I was surprised to find shampoo, body lotion, gel and conditioner here. The first we have found since arriving. Simple is good, and I do appreciate a little pampering at times.

We stayed for three nights here and surprisingly on our arrival at the hotel, the staff was so
helpful, coming to the carpark and guiding us where to park. Our room was facing the harbour
and the view was excellent. The room was comfortable even though not very big. Overall, the bar, lobby area , toilet are modern, artistic and lively.Walking distance to restaurants and also
a stone throw from the whale and puffin tours boats.Would love to stay there again in the near future.

Room Tip: Ask for a Harbour View.

My wife an I spent seven nights at the Marina. It is located in the Old Harbor area, within walking distance of most of Reykjaviks attractions and many good restaurants in all price ranges. The room was comfortable and a decent size, although I had heard that some of the rooms were quite small. Rooms on the harbor side have very nice views of the harbor and Esja Mountain. The staff were invariably very friendly and helpful - a major plus.
There were only two negatives. The decor is a bit too self-consciously hip - a minor problem, and the bathrooms are separated from the bed by a wall of frosted glass, so you should make sure that you are very close to whomever you are travelling with.

This brand new hotel has a quirky, modern and very hip decor and an excellent restaurant onsite. It's very close to harbour tours and shops and an easy walk to the main shopping street in downtown Reykjavik. The rooms are very clean and everything is new. The staff were great and there are lots of amenities in the hotel like lounge space in the lobby where you can have a drink, a small selection of food and drinks available to buy, a small library and a very small fitness center (although this is right in the lobby).

I'd highly recommend the hotel.
