“Fantastic Kerala cooking”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 3, 2013

Really surprised to find this gem of an India restaurant tucked away in the basement of a small house in Reykjavik. Great Kerala cooking by two chefs from this region in India. Full score for cooking! The best Indian food I have so far had in Scandinavia/the Nordic countries!

“Excellent South Indian”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 9, 2013

Chose this Indian restaurant over a few others in the city as it looked small, cosy and inviting with a nice selection of South Indian dishes on offer.

Wasn't disappointed. Food was very tasty and all dishes come with rice - can ask for more if you need it. The candy nan was a nice change, with brown sugar inside the nan bread.

Drinks menu was varied with a good selection of wine. Service was with a smile. Prices were on par with most other similar restaurants in Reykjavik - expect to pay around £15-20 for a main with rice.

Lots of locals were eating here which is always a good sign as they know the other options in the area better than anyone. Would definitely recommend to all looking for a smaller yet modern take on fine Indian cuisine.

“Hidden gem”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 7, 2013

Hidden away off Parliament square, this basement restaurant serves perfectly good Indian food at reasonable-for-Reykjavik prices. Different from UK Indians (the garlic naan was flat and covered in garlic butter), but tasty nonetheless.

“A definate MUST go for Iceland”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 20, 2013

Restaurant is set in cosy surroundings so makes you feel easily relaxed and comfortable. Food is delicious if I could put 10/10 I would but highest is 5 so I`ll stick with that. Mango chutney is unusual but worth a try. We both ordered butter chicken as neither of us like anything particularly hot. There's is hotter than we are used to but non the less we cleared our plates. If you get the chance to visit Iceland you should go here!

“Great place when you just want good foor”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 5, 2012

The food was really good. Spices are used moderately ti fit the Icelandic pallet that is not used to the very "hot" food that Indian cuisine can sometimes be. The service was not very professional, but it was extremely friendly. I felt very relaxed at Gandhi's
