We loved Perlan! Easy to get to on the bus, had a really enjoyable few hours walking round. The Aurora show is amazing and was great to see after we saw the northern lights the night before! The ice cave was fun but they let too many people in at once so wait until it quiet or be at the front of the queue. Observatory deck is brilliant and the cafe was lovely too.

Hello 346katiew,

Thank you for visiting us and sharing your day. March is the time when Northern Lights activity is highest. Glad to read you were lucky and saw the Northern Lights! In our Planetarium Show, you learn to understand the mysterious Northern Lights. Guided by Aurora, the goddess of dawn, this cinematic adventure invites our visitors to join for the dance spectacle of these mystical lights over Icelandic landscapes.

All the best,
Eva

Nicely done, informative, interactive. The information is a bit superficial. The building is not inspiring like the Harpa but is ok for the purpose. It has a cafe with a nice view over Reykjavik and the coffee is very good too. Go for the full ticket because otherwise there is almost no point in visiting.

Hello mar0ka,

Thank you for sharing your thoughts with us. Yes, Harpa is unique, the artist who designed Perlan is Ingimundur Sveinsson, and the building was inaugurated in 1991. The building is built around six colossal water tanks holding water supply for Reykjavík. One tank is used to host our Ice Cave and Glacier exhibit, the other is home to our Planetarium, and four others are fully operational, each holding 4 million liters of water. The Glass Dome sits on top of them and is visible from various parts of the city.
I hope you enjoyed your time in Iceland.

Kind regards,
Eva

When the weather isn’t cooperative, this museum is a fabulous way to see what Iceland has. We had a wonderful time! Save room for ice cream- the flavors are unique and delicious!

Thank you, susanhG9053LI, for sharing it with us.

Yes, even if the weather is stormy, you can find exciting activities here at Perlan, from a walk through a real Ice Cave, stunning views under the Glass Dome, to our ten meters hight bird cliff, and magical Northern Lights in our Planetarium to powers of volcanoes and creatures living in Icelandic water. Glad to read you enjoyed our museum to the fullest and loved our homemade ice cream. We hope to welcome you back to our museum.

All the best,
Eva

Dear Whitley1962,

Thank you for your feedback. Our building with Glass Dome is visible from various parts of the city. It stands on the highest hill in Reykjavík, surrounded by trees - a beautiful landmark. The building comprises six colossal water tanks with geothermal water reserves for Reykjavík. And it is a home to the biggest nature museum in Iceland, where we encourage learning through our interactive displays and immersive experiences.

Best regards,
Eva

This structure has a 360 degree viewing balcony that gives great views of Reykjavik and its surroundings. The dome/viewing area is built on top of 5 water towers.
The location has a cafe and gift shop. There is also an ice cave which unfortunately we didn't get to see due to lack of time on our tour.

Dear Michael M,

Thank you for writing to us about your day. Did you know Perlan is the biggest nature museum in Iceland? Our Wonders of Iceland exploratorium encourages guests to explore space and time in interactive exhibits and learn about Northern Lights, Volcanoes, Geysers, and many more natural wonders. Sorry to read you did not have enough time to explore our Ice Cave and other surprises. We usually recommend around 2 - 3 hours to visit our museum, so you have time to experience all immersive shows and interactive exhibits and enjoy the museum to the fullest. Hope to welcome you back at Perlan.

Kind regards,
Eva
