“Very interesting, very pretty better at night time”
Reviewed August 29, 2014

We went here at night time, the gardens seem to be open 24 hours and are free and they have lovely lighting in the dark. The sculptures were striking and very interesting to look at with a lot of history behind them and we really aren't arty people! It only takes about an hour if that to wander around and get a good look and read so it's well worth just popping in on the way to or from somethng else as its just off one of the main streets of the town.

“Sculpture garden inspires young visitors' imaginations”
Reviewed August 25, 2014

Traveling with two active boys, aged 6 and 10, is a bit different than traveling as adults. After a relatively brief visit to Hallgrimskjirka, we wandered over to this nearby museum and sculpture garden. The museum was closed, but the garden is free to visit. It was a fairly bitter March day, but my boys found this garden pretty magical. They liked some of the sculptures, disliked others, but found a lot of fun in racing from one corner of the deserted courtyard to another. (We made sure to keep our games away from the few other visitors who came in during our ~45 minutes here.)

My 10-year-old son, who really enjoys sculpture, generally, still comments on how much public art there was in Iceland. I think he considers that to be one of the country's greatest selling points!

“Free outdoor sculpture garden!”
Reviewed August 25, 2014

So many people visit the Hallgrimskirkja Church, but do not know about the Einar Jonnson sculpture garden across the street. It is part of the Einar Jonsson Museum, but the outside garden is free! It is just lovely. Situated in a park-like setting the sculptures are spaced apart throughout and they are beautiful! There are benches where you can sit and enjoy a cup of coffee or a bag lunch and relax. A hidden gem for sure! Just loved it!

Excellent sculptures in a beautiful garden. There is no fee for visiting the garden and the sculptures are really amazing. Well worth a visit.
