The sculptures are nice but the best thing about the garden is that it is open at night. It's really nice to go there with your lover and be completely hidden from the street but yet outside. Just be careful not to make any noices

The sculptures in the garden are worth a look, very interesting. I didn't get to go into the museum as it has limited hours during the offseason and didn't fit my schedule, but I was very glad I went to the garden to take a look at the works that were out there. It's also right next to the church so good for a short visit while in the area.

If you are visiting Iceland, and you are from the United State, you need to know that in comparison, Iceland is NOT a cheap country. That having been said, it is one of the most beautiful and surprisingly artsy countries I have visited. Reykjavik particularly is an art city with most of Iceland's most prominent art galleries, museums, landmarks and monuments situated within. This review however is dedicated to the Einar Jonsson Museum (Listasafn Einars Jonssonar)

I must confess I did not see the inside of the gallery as it was closed by the time my boyfriend Mark and I, arrived. But I should have loved to see the inside. The outside was captivating. At the back of the gallery is a well kept yard with an outstanding display of iron sculptures that defy imagination. Located right next to the Hallgrimskirkja Church. The art pieces in the garden are quite evocative and worth looking at.

We enjoyed the outdoor sculpture garden portion of the museum (the building itself was closed). Many of the sculptures are somewhat 'dark'. One example: an enormous horse, with a very unhappy man and woman clinging to its reigns, which was trampling on another person, entitled "Fate". It's worth walking through to see the evocative pieces like that.

This museum is right next to Hallgrimskirkja, and impressed me far more than the concrete church. The man did some interesting sculpture and a vast body of work is on display. The museum can be walked easily enough in a half hour. There are 3 small floors and an outside garden.
