“Simply beautiful”
Reviewed January 19, 2014

The cathedral is visually stunning, like a science fiction space ship of the 50's; no that's not fair really it's just a stunning piece of architecture that carries it's spiritual meaning. Inside is a triumph of simple beauty and the organ and organ pipes are amazing. Whilst free to enter it's 700isk to ride the lift to the top of the tower; do it, the views are great and you get to see and understand the story on each of the clock faces. Looks great at night as we'll, when irbid all lit up. Whilst there cross the road and try Cafe Loki, a very funky and quilt place to while a way an hour contemplating Grimhallakirjka.

“nice quiet church with a great view from top”
Reviewed January 18, 2014

very simple church inside.. not much beauty beside the architecture... no artwork or murals...but the view from the top is great and beautiful... a 700 ISK Krona charge to go to the top of the church and no restrooms

“Excellent views of Rejkyavik”
Reviewed January 18, 2014

Lovely views from the top of the church tower, although the viewing platform is actually more closed in than expected (which makes it impossible to take panoramic photographs). On a clear day, it provides a lovely view of the hills surrounding the capital.

“fabulous architecture”
Reviewed January 17, 2014

This cathedral is free to enter although you have to pay to go up the tower ( we didn't bother with this and didn't feel we had missed anything ). Externally the architecture is breathtaking and internally it is stunning and vast in its simplicity - a must in our view.

“Great panoramic views”
Reviewed January 16, 2014 via mobile

The outside is a beautifully designed church and inside is no disappointment. Walk into the entrance way and they had purple heating lamps where they are growing plants. Inside the main church the ceilings have beautiful arches.

Walk in and look above the door to find the organ. I read somewhere it looks like an evil transformer and they were right.

It's 700ISK (£2.50) to go to the top of the church tower for the viewing platform. It's free to look around the church downstairs but the views on a clear day are worth it.

Just outside is the statue to Viking Leifr Ericsson.
