The interior is almost as stunningly simple and impressive as the outside. The organ (which we heard because someone was practicing) is not only visually, but aurally, amazing.

Great landmark to keep your bearings in Reykjavik-very simple church with amazing organ-organ concert is a plus, but not necessary-not a long wait to get to the top-great view!

This is the highest point in Reykjavik. Very interesting church, very different from most European churches. More modern.

It's about 8 stories, you can take an elevator and then walk up the stairs the last flight for 360 degree views of the city. Best place to see all of Reykjavik.

Hallgrimskirkja dominates the Reykjavik skyline, and is one of the most worthwhile buildings to visit while in the city. Visually very eye-catching from the outside, it is also quite splendid inside. A top quality organ is housed in the church and it is a bonus if your visit coincides with practice for a concert (as ours did). The main tower of the church can be ascended by lift. It costs a few hundred kroner (about £2 - 3), and is well worth the cost as the reward is a great panorama of the city and the surrounding countryside.

What incredible architecture! It is a beautiful sight, but if you miss the Einar Jonsson Museum across the street you will miss some beautiful art work.
