It's a must to visit this church! It's incredibly beautiful and full of light! It stands on top of a hill in the old part of Reykjavik and can be seen from pretty much any location. The architecture's a true masterpiece!

This may be one of the most stark churches I have ever encountered. It's vast and has a 5000+ pipe organ but there is so little color that finding the one stained glass window and one gold icon-ish picture is a welcome relief. The main reason for visiting this church is to take the small elevator up to the tower for the panoramic views - and that's a very good reason. Caution: the elevator is small and if there are a lot of people at the top it can take a few elevator rotations to get down.

The few dollars is cost to get the view from the look-out near the top of the church is sooo worth it. Reykjavik is spread out before you with Mount Esja across the harbour. Of course the colorful rooftops of the downtown provide some great opportunities for pictures and on this day a BIG storm was sweeping over the harbour and city. One minute sun, then snow, hail, rain and back to sun. The wind blew through the tower and was a great example of the ever-changing weather in Iceland. A must do while visiting the capital.

Very interesting church, with an amazing pipe organ (with 5000+ pipes) and great views over the city after you take the elevator up to the bell/clock tower. The interior of the church is very ascetic (with only a couple of decorations). This is definitely one of the first things to do when visiting Reykjavik to get your bearings around the city.

At 600 ISK well you must make your own mind up about the cost but you do get a lift ride nealy to the top, there are stairs for a few flights to the very top. The view is outstanding and in my mind well worth the money as there is nowhere else to get a view like that.
