“Great to Visit - Skip on a very windy/cold day”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 15, 2012

I visited Iceland for Airwaves 2012. While we were there it was some of the windiest days Reykjavik has had. We decided to visit Hallgrimskirkja on the windiest of them all, which probably wasn't a great idea. The views from the Church, I imagine on a non-windy/cloudy day, would be incredible. My friend and I could barely stay up at the top for 5 minutes without freezing. Luckily there is no time limit to your visit so we would run outside, take a few photos and then run back into the covered area. The organist also was practicing while we were there so we got to hear the lovely organ in use, which is great because the inside of the Church is very stark.

“beautiful central church, but not much context”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 15, 2012

It would be nice to have more easily accessible information about when worship services are held, or a copy of a recent church bulletin/program. The church is frequently visited by tourists, and it seems a missed opportunity to not share more about what is happening at the church for the local churchgoers, to offer a better perspective on the role the church plays in the local community.

“Totally worth seeing”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 14, 2012

The views from the top of this church are amazing! They charge a small fee (I don't remember what it is) but completely worth it. You take an elevator to the top and see all of Reykjavik, from the brightly colored houses to the mountains. We did this the first day we were in the city and it gave us a good idea of what was below to see and how beautiful the country is.

“Ok - Once”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 13, 2012

More of a spectacle from the outside. Compared to the Cathedrals of Europe, this one's worth a quick look inside. Payed the lofty 600K to do a one time photo shoot in the tower.

“Unsurpassed views”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 13, 2012

A magnificent church with a fantastically movie size organ. Take the lift to the top of the tower, then climb the stairs to the observation deck and see the pretty chocolate box houses in all their various colours spread out before you, surrounded by mountains and wild seas.
