Our family of six ,arriving cold and tired just as they were closing were made most welcome; staff stayed late to serve us and we were not hurried in any way, we returned for lunch the following day, busy as they were, we all had a good lunch," warning the portions of cake they serve are gigantic! This place was quite a find. The only vegetarian restaurant in Reykjavik, and serving exclusively vegetarian and vegan food.There are two menu options each day. One the day I went there was a wonderful soup and gorgeous lentil patties. Highly recommended for veggie and vegan diners, gluten free, healthy eating or just anyone who likes good food. Not bad value at all for Reykjavik either. The cake looked good too but I was too full. Also stock a range of organic and Fairtrade products.

It can be a struggle to find vegetarian/vegan food in Reykjavik but on a day when the snow was blowing horizontally we were overjoyed to partake of the home cooked delights of Cafe Gardurinn. Not an extensive menu but delicious non the less with fabulous cakes and a warm welcome.

Wonderful little place. All vegetarian. Vegan choices. Two specials each day. No general menu. The day I went both options were vegan. Very friendly, cozy place.

One of the few places I ate that felt like I wasn't paying an arm and a leg. The vegetable korma and the cheese cake were amazing.
