Description: Twined for 90 years. Our casa, Sólfell, was built in 1921 and has a rich history twined with Spain. Originally Sólfell housed the production of bacalao (salted cod/saltfiskur) and Spain was by far the biggest buyer. A newspaper article from 1921 tells how the Spanish renewed the contract between the two countries. The contract was literally a big deal because the magnitude was such that the Spanish bought all the exported bacalao that year. A new Spanish contract. We have reversed things. Before the bacalao started its journey from here to Spain but now we import from Spain everything that gives us the warmth and feel of the south. Of course the bacalao has a special place in our hearts as well as on our menu along with other delicacies, enough to give you what you need to put together your dream feast, there are thousands of possible combinations. There is a certain equilibrium in the fact that we have now offer a contract with whomever enters our establishment. In it we state our determination to offer the best of the Spanish tradition in this historical house with a unique fusion of our beloved home country. Enjoy.

Went here specifically to try the minke whale, and was not disappointed! It was served in a blueberry sauce with crispy cabbage and was absolutely delicious. We also share fried langoustine that were so, so fresh and tasty and fries with a yummy sauce (not sure what it was). My friend was a little disappointed by the mussels though (I can't comment really, as I don't like them!). Dessert was equally delicious. I had chocolate cake with an array of strawberry accompaniments. Would recommend ordering 4 or 5 main dishes per couple and then a desert each.
The atmosphere was great; a little bit quirky! Would love to visit again!

Had a late lunch here after whale watching. Interesting decor inside, friendly welcome. Very good sangria. Tapas really good. We like our meat rather than fish and found almost all our choices to be lovely. Not badly priced for iceland, everything seems expensives here. Worth a visit here.

We had five tapas dishes each and each one was excellent washed down with a nice bottle of Faustino Cava plus water and beer. They explained all the ingredients in each dish when they brought them out which they did individually so you could sit back and savour the food. Worth every penny.

Living in Reykjavik we often visit Tapashusið for family or friends dinner, the food is nice, not overly prices and the service usually quite friendly. However, after this Friday´s experience, we are NEVER coming back. Much to our surprise, the dreadful attitude and rudeness coming from the owner of the place!!! A person who treats his (quite frequent customers, but not that it matters) the way we have been treated, certainly do not deserve to enjoy our money ever again.
Being obnoxiously rude, talking back at us, refusing to add up 2 chairs for our friends who wanted to join (which kind of businessmen refuses to 2 paying customers??), arguing with us about the bill, and at the end screaming at my husband for daring to complain about the treatment we got from him. The staff themselves were trying to be helpful and friendly, but it was obvious that they enjoy the same attitude as we did, with such management.
