“Fantastic hotel, great staff, nice quiet street”
Reviewed July 21, 2010

I went to Reykjavik in June. On my arrival and within an hour of been there i had lost my wallet. I arrived at the hotel and the guy on reception was so helpful and phoned the Airport and bus station for me until he got through to them and my wallet was located. He also helped me with planning my trip around Iceland and recommended places to go to. The single room was spacious, very clean and very quiet( i am very fussy about both of these, ear plugs were not needed.) The hotel is located on a quiet street within minutes of the main street and only 10 minutes walk from the bus station. Its pricey but worth the money.

The hotel Odinsve was clean and in a great location. The staff were friendly, welcoming and helpful. The room was clean and the bed was very comfortable. Initially I was given a room in the front without shades or dark curtains but after requesting a change, was given a darker, quieter room in the back. The hotel was close to downtown.

This hotel is slap, bang in the centre of Reykjavik. It's two minutes walk to where the bars and restaurants are, and about five minutes down to the harbour where whale watching trips etc. depart from. We were there for four nights during the air travel disruption because of the erupting volcano, and the staff were INCREDIBLY welcoming and helpful. The airport was closed during most of our stay but the staff were always well informed about the status of flights, and very willing to make calls on our behalf (we found the Icelandic people in general to be very friendly!) The room was small and functional, but very clean and we had a lovely view across the bay. The bed was very comfy but we didn't always sleep well because Iceland is so close to the Arctic circle and in the summer moths it seems it never actually gets dark! We hired a car and got out of Reykjavik under our own steam - the hotel didn't have it's own parking but it wasn't difficult to park outside. There is a pay and display car park directly outside the hotel but if you are out and about during the day, you'll never have to pay. Highly recommended!

The service is excellent. Front desk staff are friendly and ready to help you - from booking excursions to fruit basket/champagne in the bedroom to booking an anniversary dinner at the Perlan Restaurant. The hotel is located two blocks from the main street. It is quiet, clean and has decent accomodation. Please keep in mind that 4-5 star hotels in Iceland are nowhere near 4-5 star hotels in the U.S. Hotel accomodation is definitely part of the adventure. I would highly recommend Hotel Odinsve to anyone. Without a doubt, my husband and I will stay there again in the near future! Most importantly, I would suggest to couples not to bring their small children when vacationing in Iceland (just like my husband and I) so that they can truly savor and enjoy the romantic aura of Iceland. Somethng to think about...

We spent three nights in Reykjavik, staying at Hotel Odinsve. The hotel was very central but a few streets away from the main area so nice and quiet at night. The staff were very efficient and friendly and only too happy to book trips. They even rang the horse riding centre where we had spent the morning to retrieve my inhaler for me! Breakfast was reasonably priced and fresh and tasty (buffet). The room was a nice size and very clean, and the beds were extremely comfortable. If a friend was going to Reykjavik I would definitely recommend this hotel.

This is a good quality central hotel, close to - but not on top of - the main shopping area.

The room was clean and large (we somehow got a room split over two levels which felt wonderfully palacial!). Service was very friendly and attentive. We only got to sample a rushed early morning breakfast due to an early flight so I can't fairly comment on food or the restaurant.

Recommended as a nice quiet base from which to explore the Icelandic capital.
