We stayed in Hotel Odinsve for 4 nights and couldn't fault it. The location is excellent and our room (401) was dual aspect with views up to the church and a balcony overlooking the mountains which is perfect for watching the Northern Lights should they put on a display. We paid £90 a night through Expedia but got our 4th night free. It's a bargain for the location. We never had breakfast as there are plenty of lovely cafes nearby but we did eat in the attached Snaps restaurant and it was very good. We would definitely stay there again.

The hotel is perfectly located, close enough to central Reykjavik, but far enough away for the hustle and bustle. The hotel staff are excellent, great service non-stop and they all speak excellent English. Rooms are clean, minimalist, but modern Scandinavian, very nice all round, but you don't go on holiday to stay in the hotel rooms !. Hotel breakfast is priced fairly for Reykjavik and is good enough to set you for the day. The restaurant in the evening is excellent, a little expensive, but the food is very good indeed, and the restaurant always packed with locals which is always an excellent sign !. All in all great hotel, great stay, and would stay here again without hesitation.

This was home for a week while I explored Iceland. The room was comfortable, clean, and simple. Very Scandinavian, which I love! The hotel was very convenient to the 101 area (downtown where all of the night life is) and within "stumbling" distance of several bars. There are also several restaurants, shops, and coffee shops all within a few minutes walk. I found the staff very helpful and nice, pleasant to talk to and willing to share their love of their country with tourists.

We had a very nice 3-night stay. While not the most luxurious hotel, it was clean and comfortable, and the location can't be beat.

Pros:
-- Location! Short and interesting walk to the main shopping streets.
-- Attached restaurat Snaps is very good and for Reykjavik standards, not too expensive.
-- Comfortable and clean room
-- Friendly staff

Cons:
-- Hotel was fully booked, so arriving at 7:00am we could only drop our bags, and stroll the city until 2:00pm. No early check-in, but it's not their fault!
-- Yes, the hot water smells like rotten eggs. That's just a fact of life with geothermal hot water.
-- Small bathroom with no ventilation. If you can't take the rotten egg smell, it's a little rough.

Overall, this was a great location and a great stay. No, it's not perfect. But then again, you don't go to Iceland to sit around in your hotel room. Stay here, go explore, and be happy.

A friend and I stayed at Hotel Odinsve for a long weekend after looking for someplace with reasonable prices with a good location. We stayed in a double on the second floor in the back of the building. Though a little small (as expected) the room was quiet and completely adequate for our needs. The front desk staff was pleasant and one of them recommended a local exhibit to us ("The Visitors" - unusual and very interesting). The attached restaurant, Snaps, was also very convenient and there are a couple of coffee shops nearby (although they open at 9 or later - head into the city center if you want better luck finding breakfast outside the hotel).

We did stay at hotel odinsvé one night in january, we choose the hotel by its location to the center of city of Reykjavík. It is near to the best restaurants and bars and the main shopping street Laugarvegur where you can find all you need and lot more. There is also the street Skólavörðustígur that runs down from the grand church Hallgrímskirkja witch is next beside the hotel. This is not a big hotel but nice, the rooms could be bigger but they are clean and nice. there is a restaurant inside the hotel, we only had our breakfast there and it was realy good, and various. The hotel staff was nice and helpful. If you are looking for a nice located hotel in Reykjavík for a fair price , you have found one right here.
