Hotel Odinsve is located just back from the main street of Reyjkavik. There is a nice cafe across the road also with good reviews here on TA. Breakfast was additional and we ate there once, other days using food we had in the room.

Our room was at the back of the hotel. Rooms were warm, and we loved the Scandanavian idea of single quilts for each person on the bed. The beds were very comfortable, and the bathroom was also nice to use. I had some problems working out the way the water worked in the shower, but it was very warm, using geothermal power that is used all over Iceland. There were toiletries and good quality towels.

We were only on the first floor, but we also used the lift on occasion, which had enough room for your luggage as well as both of you, a bonus in Europe with older rooms. Although I suspect from Iceland history that most hotels are newer than usual in Europe. There was a nice place to wait for buses to arrive, which was nice given the outside temperatures. The staff were willing to go whatever you needed and we liked leaving our key so that we never had to worry about losing them. Reception was 24 hour and they were happy to book our return trip to the airport, doing so around midnight the night before.

I would reccommend this hotel , for the fact that you had easy access to the internet if you had your own computer or Ipad, unlike some of the more expensive hotels where this was only available in the public areas. The breakfast had plenty of choices including the Scandanavian idea of cold meats and hard boiled eggs, but also a waffle cooker, fruit, scrambled eggs, lots of lovely breads to toast, and good coffee and tea.

It was easy to walk to the restaurants etc. and also to do city sight seeing. Reyjkavik is a compact city esp once you get an idea of the geography. So location is an asset for this hotel.

I had problems pronouncing the name of the hotel. it is hotel Odin( emphasis on this part of the name) vere. I constantly and still get it wrong, saying O-dins-ve. Learning how to say Icelandic words is part of the fun of coming to this wonderful country.

I stayed in a single room recently, and this hotel was perfectly located for getting around town. The room itself was pretty basic, but it was also less than $100 per night, which is quite a steal for the location. Overall, I was pleased with my stay.

The Room & Amenities: Pretty basic furnishings (bed, desk and TV, two chairs, dresser, minibar) with a very comfortable and warm bed. That said, based on experience with European housing options, I should point out that the size of the room and the furnishings were on par with my expectations. I loved the fact that the floors were heated, which definitely kept the room cozy. The bathroom was a decent size with a shower, toilet, and sink. The shower didn't drain well, so I was always left with at least an inch of water in the shower basin. That would probably be the only drawback to the room, in my opinion. In addition, free wireless service was a definite plus. It was a little spotty sometimes, but worked okay for a free benefit. Overall, a clean and serviceable place to spend a night.

Location: Really great location on a smaller side street a couple of blocks off the main drag. It was easily walkable, and I was able to get around to the city center within a 5-10 minute walk. Because it's on a smaller side street, things stayed pretty quiet, which was I thought was a plus.

Staff: The staff was always friendly and professional. They have a 24 hour front desk. I purchased stamps, received directions, and scheduled wakeup calls with no difficulties.

Value: I think that I ended up paying around $85-95 or so per night, which I found reasonable for the location and my last minute booking. Be sure to let them know if you want the breakfast service included or not - it's 1900 ISK (approximately $16-17), which sounds a little pricey, in my opinion. That said, food in general in Iceland is expensive, so maybe it would be worth it. All in all, I think I got good value for my money in staying at the Hotel Odinsve.

We stayed in one of the apartments which is located a couple of minutes walk from the hotel itself. It was modern clean and very comfortable. Unfortunately we had noisy guests staying in the apartment next door. They stayed up very late and our bedroom backed onto their living room. Also, because the apartments are on one of the main streets we had the noise for that too. So all in we didn't have very good nights. Other than that, the location was central and everything was within walking distance, the reception staff were very helpful and the breakfasts (which were served in the hotel) were fine.

Room Tip: If you want an apartment and a good night's sleep, I would enquire whether the one's at the...

This hotel is central in the city and has everything you need for a holiday base. The rooms are clean, the staff helpful and the food is very good. It's not a "Wow" type hotel, but then again, Iceland is the Wow factor itself, trying to compete against the land with a hotel is pointless. The bar is lively and the breakfast is sufficient. Parking is a difficult in the city centre but that goes for every hotel. If you expect and want Marriott style living then forget it, if you are a real person and want to experience Iceland & Icelanders then the Odinsve is very good indeed. The food is very good indeed. Also, if you want an evening meal book a table as the restaurant fills quickly.

Room Tip: Bigger is better I would guess, ours was small but adequate. We didn't spend a lot of time in i...

Location, rooms and staff all excellent. Our 'Northern Lights' trip was cancelled due to cloud cover, but the extremely helpful and friendly reception staff suggested several alternatives and made all the arrangements. Nothing was too much trouble for them - they even got 'Flybus' to lay on an extra run to the airport to avoid what would have been a four hour wait.
Breakfast very good, bedrooms comfortable and warm in spite of minus10 outside
We intend to go back

As a solo traveller the staff helped facilitate everything I wanted to do in iceland, including traveling around the country side. Hotel is in a great location, centre of town and easy walk to anywhere you would want to go.

Hotel has its own trendy restaurant or there are are others within minutes walk.
