“Great little hotel in a brill location”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 2, 2013 via mobile

Don't expect the Ritz, but it's spotlessly clean and situated right in the centre of town just a short stroll from the local restaurants and bars. The other 'major' name hotels such as the best western etc are right on the city outskirts miles from anything useful.

The staff are lovely and were always friendly, polite and helpful. 24 hour soft drinks and coffees are provided FOC and there's plenty of choice for breakfast.

Room are basic... And I mean basic... But they are cleaned daily, the beds are comfy and its warm!

Would highly recommend and would certainly stay again if we found ourselves back in Iceland!

Stayed in the hotel with my Mum for 3 nights, here are the positives;

Location - right opposite the massive church
Managed to check in early
Staff were friendly apart from the grumpy old guy with glasses who does the night shift
Free hot drinks/water all day in the reception
Very tasty breakfast, basic but very nice and enjoyed it especially the tuna mix!
Good price we paid

Negatives;

Smallest room ever stayed in (attic)
Smallest bathroom with a shower and shower curtain, no glass
A room on the top floor and the hotel had no lift, didnt mind but coming from a trip and having to walk up the stairs can be a nightmare, so anyone who has difficulty walking ensure you have a room on the ground floor, as this part of the hotel doesnt have a lift!

Overall would recommend it, good location and can never get lost as its opposite the big church, when we go back we will definitely stay here again..

Room Tip: Do not stay on the top floor if you cant walk, as the main part of the hotel doesnt have a lift!

The staff are friendly, polite, efficient and helpful. They dealt with all queries and bookings for trips quickly and efficiently.
Rooms are small but clean and there is unlimited hot water in the bathroom. There is a small lounge and breakfast room on the ground floor with a view of the church and 24 hour tea, coffee, hot chocolate and fruit squash available. Breakfast is included and provides a good range of food - cereal, bread, toast, cold meats, cheese, fruit, fish and a waffle maker.
The hotel is very well located opposite the church and within a a few minutes walk of the main shopping street, restaurants cafes and a swimming pool.

We arrived late at night, reception staff were quick to get us booked in and very friendly. This hotel is good value for money, rooms are cleaned daily and towels replaced, plenty of hot water in the shower, so no complaints at all. Yes some of the rooms/bathrooms are small but on a short 4 night break we knew we wouldn't be spending much time at the hotel - the location of Leifur Eiriksson is great, a few minutes walk to restaurants coffee shops etc. There's 24 hour free tea coffee hot chocolate squash and water in the reception area. We booked our trips to Northern Lights, Blue Lagoon and Golden Circle through the hotel - all very organised and on time. We were in the main building and emailed in advance to ask for 2nd floor rooms facing the church which we got. No it's not boasting 5 star amenities but I would certainly go back there again. Breakfast is good - the waffle maker is brilliant.

Room Tip: No lift or escalator so if you can't face too many stairs email ahead and request 1st or 2nd...

Really not much on offer apart from a small but clean and nice enough room.

Provided a good nights sleep, but don't expect any services or ammenities at all apart from a room and a shower. Great location with only a few minutes walk to all downtown restaurants and bars, though.

This hotel is basic but clean, friendly staff, lots of options for breakfast, and hot drinks available 24/7. We had a room at the front overlooking the church in the main building. We also had a small 'lounge area' with chairs and wardrobe which was great. Everything was clean and the room met all basic needs. Free wifi was a bonus too. It's in a perfect location, just a few minutes walk from the centre of town, far away enough to be out of the way of the weekend frivolities and noise if you are not into that sort of thing, but close enough not to be a pain to get out and do anything. Would definitely stay again.

Room Tip: Room 404 was the one with the 'living room' area, but beware there is no lift! Staff will he...
