Great stay

Review of Hotel Cabin
5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed Oct 20, 2019via mobile
We stayed here for a week ,i was worriedkoko based on the reviews here. We stayed in room 611 we really liked it .it was roomy enough had a great view of the water and the subway sandwich shop across the street. We are a married couple but somehow i accidentally got a room with 2 twin beds. But it worked out great i really think that is why the room was not cramped .And as a bonus every night i would look over at my husband and yell "goodnight Ricky" and he would yell back "goodnight Lucy! (That's an old timey TV reference google it.) The bathroom was small the shower was hard to get the hang of water starts out hot and you have to tune it up or down.
The staff was very friendly and helpfull with our dumb questions about transportation, food, postal system. They would schedule busses and such really they were the best.
We loved having free breakfast, although it was a odd combination of stuff do Icelanders really eat like this? I could not imagine that they do. We just were not sure what to with this odd mashup. Cucumbers, tomatoes, boiled eggs, sliced cheese and coldcuts?
At night we would come in and have a drink at the bar. They have a little gift shop which was perfect as at the end of my trip i still needed a couple gifts.
I really really liked this hotel

Hotel cabin is a fine base for a visit to Reykjavik.
It is not in the centre of the city but has a pleasant seafront walk to it (1 mile).
Rooms small be ample; breakfast plentiful but most importantly staff simply superb.
Nothing was too much trouble.
Would certainly recommend to friends and family

Stayed here for a few days in September. The room was very small, the veiw was nice, and the location was good. There's a gas station and a subway across the street. About a 15 minute walk along the harbor to the Harpa. 5 min drive to the Kringla (mall).

It was quiet and the beds were comfortable.

The shower is TINY! breakfast was ok. Not my type of breakfast, but I'm from Canada eh. 😉 Like Where's the bacon??

All in all it was a good stay.

The rooms are quite basic, but so is the pricing. It's quite busy with groups, but it's comfortable and casual. Breakfast has something for everyone, and the lobby bar was reasonable for beers compared to most bars in town. Parking was easy, 5 minutes from major shopping and restaurants. Staff was terrific and very helpful during the reservation process and upon arrival. Great value.

Room tip: Any of the Superior rooms were excellent

My tour came with a single room, but after reading the reviews, I paid extra for a superior room with view. I can't fault the room - spacious, great shower, view of the sea. This hotel is in the financial district so it is quiet at night which I liked. There were only two restaurants open for dinner so I walked 1/2 hour to find better variety. Reception was friendly and helpful. The only criticism is the monotonous breakfast. The only hot item was oatmeal. By the third day I couldn't face just toast and cornflakes.

The pictures on the site are not what we ended up in. It was a cell, we could hardly move around it was so small and when we opened the window it opened into a corridor! The all day buffet was poor, the breakfast was poor. The location is out of town. Don't go here.

Dear Lozzalot,

Thank you for your feedback. We’re sorry to read that your stay was not how you expected it to be.

You are right, our Standard rooms are very compact. We always ensure that this information is clear on our website. We understand that some of our guests do prefer a more spacious room and if we were aware we could have offered you a possible upgrade to one of our Superior rooms.

Cabin is located near many attractions, major intersections and also very convenient to public transportation. Our postal code is 105 Reykjavik therefore the next neighbor to downtown 101 Reykjavik.

We appreciate your feedback as it helps us to identify the areas we can improve.

Hope Iceland in general was extraordinary.

Sincerely,
Hotel Cabin team
