ok me and my friend booked this hotel with not big expectations but it was a bit disapoitment.rooms were really small, breakfast buffet was every day same, not all staff was knowlegable plus you had to pay extra for wifi connection.good thing about hotel was location with really nice view.there was few shops and restaurant around and to get to town center took about 15-20 minutes walk.also some of the staff was really nice and helpful.bot over all I would next time book other hotel.

A true shambles of a hotel, With rooms the size of a council house' back garden, crushed biscuits in the floor, and a window looking out onto a corridor, this is the place to go if you are looking for an embarrassment. Staff were ignorant arrogant and rude throughout the two night stay. The rooms are unprepared and the lack of basic facilities i.e. a working sink and not even enough towels, shocking in every way imaginable.

The rooms are small but more than adequate and are well appointed. No tea or coffee in the room but we took a travel kettle. The place was clean, comfortable and warm. We were lucky and got a room at the front (423) with a beautiful view of the bay and the mountalns. You get a continental buffet for breakfast with a wide choice of cold food and cerals and as much tea and coffee as you want. The buffet in the evening is mainly cold food with one warm choice but again a big choice and you won't starve. The staff on reception and in the shop were all extremely helpful and willing to book tours and buses for the airport. There is a Subway and garage with a shop over the road from the hotel and within a few minute there is a burger bar, Sushi bar and coffee shops. The bus into the centre is also outside the hotel and they run every few minutes. We were there four three nights and booked to see the lights, however the first two nights it was cloudy and the trips were cancelled; the third night the sky was clear but the lights did not perform. On the whale watching trip we were lucky to have four humbacked whales around the boat and they were amazing to watch. The Golden Circle tour is well worth doing seeing the Geysirs, half frozen waterfalls and the point at which the techtonic plates are pulling apart.
One small point about the bus from the airport to the hotel, Iceland Excursion have a far more frequent service to the airport. We were flying at 11.10 and Fly Bus had only one pick up to get us to the airport on time and that was 05.30 whereas Iceland Excursions had an 08.00 pick up, a far more sensible time. We had pre-booked with Fly Bus but the hotel changed us to Iceland Excursion and when we got to the airport went to the Fly Bus office and they very genereously refunded our return money.

Room Tip: Try to get room at the front for the view.

I stayed for 3 nights with my two children (in their early 20s) in a Triple Deluxe room and had a lovely time. There was no noise at all and ample room. A small point but a definite bonus is that most tours seem to pick up there last and drop off first as its near the Iceland Excursions office, which is a definite plus after midnight when freezing after chasing the Northern Lights!
There is a small supermarket and a Subway directly over the road, and a very nice Hamburger Factory bar and restaurant 10min walk down the road.
The breakfast food is sliced cheeses, sliced meats bread, with cornflakes and milk available also. There is a small gift shop who will post postcards when you buy them there and also buy a stamp.
Small downside was that there was no tea/coffee making facilities but no big deal really. No hair dryer in the room either but can be obtained with a refundable 2000isk deposit for the duration of your stay.
Had a lovely time and although not luxury, there is nothing wrong with the hotel or staff and we had a lovely time :)

Room Tip: Im not sure if any of the rooms are noisy but we were advised to ask for a sea view room and did so...

The hotel is in a good location. Not central Reykjavik but easy bus trip in (the bus stop is outside). It has nice views from one side and is good for a nice walk along the sea front.
The rooms and clean and tidy although the basic room is cheap, it doesn't have tea/coffee facilities (which I wasn't too bothered about) but only has small twin beds. I was on a short trip so I was OK with this but if staying longer I would have upgraded to a double room or gone somewhere else. The basic room is really small but adequate (for short trips).
Breakfast was great, good selection buffet. We also ate a lunch there which was good value, buffet again but some lovely meatballs and potatoes and salad etc. Similar fare for dinner.

Staff were friendly and helpful. We needed to rebook onto a Northern Lights excursion which they did for us quickly and easily.

If you don't mind doing without some of the niceties like tea/coffee in room and small twin beds then it is excellent value for money.

Room Tip: Upgrade from the basic one and try to get one with a sea or mountain view.

As the name suggests, the rooms are cabin like and on the small size but warm and clean.
The hotel is situated about 15 minutes walk from the town center and this is a nice scenic walk along the waterfront or there is a bus stop across the road. The front desk staff were really helpful in dealing with inquires about tours etc as was the girl in the excursions office. All our excursions were booked through the hotel.Nice breakfast with lovely bread rolls.Ideal place for people on a budget who still want cleanliness and good service

Reykjavik, and Iceland in general, is a very expensive place to visit. With wine at £30 a bottle and a small meal of the same price, to find a hotel that is clean, comfortable and affordable is a task in iteself.

The Hotel Cabin satisfy's the needs of the customer on a budget. It is within a 40 minute walk to the centre and has buffet style food. The bread on offer is something to die for and to have a hotel that has breakfast thrown in for no additional price is fantastic. No, it is not cordon bleu, but it does fill a hole with cereals, jams, coffee, meats, eggs and tomatoes. If you want to purchase (about £8) the buffet evening meal, again, it does the job - you won't find many 'all that you can eat' restaurants at Reykjavik for this price, so it can help to make your money go a little further.

No one can grumble over the clean accommodation, although small but serviceable, with an en-suite shower and toilet. However, people do, it seems, no matter how cheap and cheerful a place is! Not to worry, have an expectation that Hotel Cabin is somewhere to put your head down, keep clean, before you go on your out door adventures and I am sure you will be happy.

The staff are professional and happy to help. They will organise trips at a competitive price.

As you turn left outside Hotel Cabiin, you will find a useful supermarket and Government run off-licence. For around £7.50 a bottle, you can purchase a reasonable wine. However, be sure to make a note of the opening times as you might get caught out - there is only a small window of opportunity to purchase alcohol. Better still... buy your alchohol on your arrival to the airport at Reykjavik. You will get a more competitively priced deal here.

We came to Iceland in search of the Northern Lights in January. We saw a vague strip of it on our second trip to the National Park. This excursion will keep returning, night after night, until you see the lights. However, two days before we left, we had an amazing view from Hotel Cabin and rushed out to be part of the show. Funny how the best view we got was when it was free! You can see the Northern Lights on a good night in Reykjavik - so it doesn't always follow that you have to go into the deepest darkness to see them.
