“Second stay and just as good as the first.”
Reviewed February 19, 2013

This was my second visit to Hotel Cabin. It's clean, comfortable and the staff are happy to help plan days out with numerous tour operators. The breakfast is basic, bread, ham, cheese, eggs, cereal, fresh fruit and juice, but adequate to fill you up before going exploring. Good location, close enough to walk into city but far enough away to be nice & quiet. There were a few school groups there but all were well behaved, courteous young people. Good for all kinds of traveller. If staying a few days try to upgrade your room to deluxe or superior, basic room is ok if you're on your own but would be tight for 2. Would happily recommend this hotel to others

Room Tip: Upgrade to deluxe or superior, it'll cost you £16-20 per night for upgrade, well worth it

I stayed here with a touring school party. The rooms were OK, no frills.... tea & coffee in the rooms would massively improve the experience. Breakfast is good, if a little samey. Dinner is mostly cold salad, meats & cheese. The one hot food option was woefully inadequate for a group that had been out touring & hiking!

Room Tip: Eat out in the evening!

Then this is a good place to stay. Very small, 2 tiny single beds separated by a desk. Felt like the room was about the width of a king sized bed. Requested a view room and enjoyed the snow covered mountains and harbor. Hot shower, good storage under the beds for luggage.Helpful staff but not friendly. Good breakfast buffet as part of the package. Also a good salad and soup bar for lunch/dinner which was a great value if you wanted an inexpensive meal. Nice walk along the harbor into the city center or the #12 bus is across the street. Need a pass or exact change. Only negative experience was one evening when we got distracted talking in the elevator and got off on the wrong floor, did not realize until we used our key and it opened the door and we tripped over a suitcase and saw it was not our room!! Reported the incident and were told it should not have happened, hopefully a one time error.

Room very small but comfortable beds and good shower, breakfast, reasonable selection and unlimited supplies. Good parking with easy routes out of town. good choice for a few days but would upgrade if staying longer. Did not eat dinner in hotel but it looked OK. Hired car as it was cheaper than paying for day trips.

Stayed in a budget room at this hotel. Rooms are very small but clean and comfy. Staff are fantastic and nothing was too much trouble. Buffet breakfast included, very good value and was available at 4am on our departure day due to a very early flight. There is a lounge on the landing that we used to relax in due to the small rooms. would definitely recommend.. About a 15 min walk from the city centre but also has a bus stop outside.

Second visit to Cabin hotel and Wednesday night we were able to see the aurora from my room (upgrade to the deluxe room, only a little more cost and if you ask you can get a view over the bay) The hotel is near the bay road so when we spotted the aurora we crossed over the road to the bay path and had a great view without the distraction of the city lights. Staff very helpful and having the buffet option is nice when you've been out all day. Will definitely go back to Cabin for my next trip.

We recently stayed in a twin room at the Hotel cabin, the room was small and pokey but was all we needed for our stay as most of the time we were out doing day trips and wandering the streets. breakfast wasn't anything exciting but filled us up and the dinner was reasonably priced and the one night we ate in the meatballs were delish! If you are looking for a basic base would definitely reccommend this hotel.
