We visited in Feb 2014 and booked through Secret Escapes. We mainly used the hotel as a base and spent most of each day out exploring. The hotel did not disappoint, it was clean, had nice facilities and was a convenient distance from Reykjavik town centre - reception provided a bus pass so you had free transport in and out of Reykjavik - a nice touch! The room was a standard hotel room, nothing amazing but perfect for what we needed. Would definitely recommend as a great base for your Reykjavik adventure!

This hotel was our 'headquarters for several days before and after an extensive tour of the Ring Road around the perimeter of Iceland. We appreciated the proximity to downtown (20-minute walk) Reykjavik and the special care that was given to us as tourists in this fantastic country. The breakfast buffets were wonderful, the various fish dinners were nicely prepared, and the people working at the hotel were very nice and helpful. We asked a lot of questions! Our rooms left nothing to be desired either.

We can't say enough positive about Reykjavik, too. Clean and historical, yet modern in many ways. It has somewhat of a party reputation, but the location of our hotel was very quiet. Iceland and Reykjavik are expensive places to visit, but I would return without even thinking twice, and I would stay for at least another 2 weeks, if possible. We loved every minute of our stay in Iceland!

Excellent value, good location. It is next to the domestic airport so a bit if noise during the day but none at night. Easy bus rude or walk to downtown (approx 20 minutes). Taxis readily available, stroll to the water or the Perlan. Booked as a package with airfare and able to check in earlier than usual as the hotel is owned by Icelandair, Rooms are smaller but standard size for Europe. Spa and pool lovely, breakfast-amazing selection.

We stayed at the Natura for 8 days and I left with no complaints. The hotel is comfortable and the staff are extraordinarily helpful and friendly.

There is a bookings desk in the hotel that will book any and all tours with no commission. The breakfast buffet is a pretty great spread. The facilities are all great.

The only slight negative is the location, as the hotel is about a 15-20 minute walk into downtown Reykjavik. Of course, for the young and spry like myself, this isn't really an issue. And the hotel offers complimentary bus passes allowing guests to take the quick ride into town for free. Buses come every half hour on weekdays.

After our flight got canceled because of the Icelandair pilot's strike the hotel staff were very helpful in rebooking us a room and were very accommodating.

All in all a very pleasant experience. Not a luxury hotel by any stretch but for the average traveler everything you need.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the local airport have a great view of the sunset, but will likely also wake you early...

Stayed here for a week. Outside of the hotel kind of looked like and office building, but inside was great. Morning buffets were good but a little pricy like the rest of Iceland. If your staying in Iceland I suggest here.

This was our second time in Reykjavik. The first time we stayed at a guest house with a more walkable location, but fewer amenities. The Natura's rooms were spacious, the bed was comfortable and the breakfast was great (spring for the breakfast option). It is less welcoming than the small guest house and is not only run by Icelandair, but shares space with its offices. The only other downside is that it isn't quite walkable into the city and the buses only run on the half hour. With planning you can make this work and finding cabs back is relatively easy.

The best parts were the spa downstairs and their floating caps, and the wonderful fire place in the lobby. Given the low price and comfort, I would definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: The rooms are themed by the features of Iceland.

Dear traveler

Thank you for your recent review of our hotel, Reykjavik Natura.

First and foremost I am glad that you would stay with us again, that really means a lot to us. I can see from your comment that you went for the spa experience which is always relaxing after a busy day exploring the city. I can understand that you found the hotel to be a bit far from the downtown area, about 2,5 KM to be exact, but we believe that the hotel´s location in some parts makes up for it. For example you can walk to the only geothermal beach in Reykjavik, located nearby at the Nautholsvik area. You could also walk up the hill to the Pearl which offers scenic views over the whole city area or just make use of all the nearby walking trails, especially during summertime.

And if you don´t feel like spending your time outside of the hotel then you can definitely enjoy the many indoor activities at the hotel. For example have a drink at the Satt bar or go for a movie in our in-door theater.

I would like to thank you again for your overall positive review. We hope that you will have the chance to visit us again in the future and if you do then perhaps you can make use of the activities that I mentioned above to make your stay even more enjoyable.

Warm regards,
Trausti Karlsson

Icelandair Hotel Reykjavik Natura has 200 rooms. It was built 1964-66 and was in 2011 partly redecorated in the lounge, restaurant and reception with a certain sense of modern styling.

The hotel rooms call for a similar make over as the decor seems old e.g. noisy and flickering fluorescent lights in the bathroom, old carpet with foot protection even to meet the built in table and windows without noise reduction: if your room is situated towards the parking area as a group of smokers will keep you entertained whether you are up to it or not.

Dear traveler

Thank you for your recent review of our hotel, Reykjavik Natura.

Firstly I need to correct you regarding the renovations. The whole ground floor of the hotel was actually renovated, including all the open areas, the lobby, the restaurant and bar area, the breakfast area and all of our conference and banquet rooms. The spa was also renovated in 2011 and last but not least half of our 220 rooms were renovated. I can however see from your review that you stayed at a room that has not yet been renovated but I can advise you that we are planning to renovate the rest of the rooms in the coming winter.

If you will stay with us again I am sure that you will experience our rooms to be of more value and if you want to have some extra luxury then I advise you to upgrade to a deluxe room which is much bigger in size, has been renovated and offers a complimentary access to our spa and to our lounge area.

Warm regards,
Trausti Karlsson
