“Clean, good location”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 22, 2012 via mobile

Stayed here as part of a package tour. The rooms were nice and clean. Bed was comfy. Restaurant in the hotel had decent prices for menu items. The fish stew was very good. People at the front desk were very nice and helpful. Very convenient to have small travel booking office in the hotel to book day tours.

We recently stayed at this hotel for 2 seperate nights. The first room was small and smelt of drains although clean. It was facing the airport overlooking the car park. We had a rude awakening at 4am with the road sweeper cleaning for 1/2 hr or more and were disturbed by the planes taking off and landing. Advertised as easy access to the domestic airport it was actually a good 40min walk to the terminal building. We took a taxi and were charged 2450 kr for a 5min drive = approx £12 ! extortionate ! (reported to be night rate although was 7.45am ) On the way back the taxi was 1400 kr at 10.30am = approx £7 ! The room on the 2nd night was much better at the other end of the hotel and quieter no airoplane noise Rm468 !
The free hotel shuttle to the city centre was useful although a taxi needed to return back and was reasonably priced even at night.
Busy hotel and restaurant was reasonable food with prices on a par with the city centre retaurants. ( Expensive by prices in the UK )

I have just returned from a 4 night stay at the Hotel Natura. While I think it is a nice hotel, I think it could be 3 star in terms of extra touches I'd expect from a 4 star hotel, and I believe it's stars are made up due to the spa area and modern lobby.

The size of the room was fine, but there was a lack of information about the hotel services, including the shuttle (we asked for a timetable on our last night but the times weren't great, so only used it once. It took us about 20 minutes to walk into town, and it's not the nicest walk until you get to the lake!) When we checked in the staff were polite, and spoke perfect English, but they were not friendly, and didn't offer any information other than our room number and the location of the lift. There is limited information using the (old-fashioned) TV in the room.

I was disappointed that the tea/coffee making supplies in the room were not filled up on our second day, even although we had used them (we were given new cups). I was also disappointed there were no biscuits! I left them in a prominent place the next day to ensure they were topped up. The bathroom with shower wasn't very well laid out - the shower was small, and much to my boyfriend's amusement, I was disappointed that the cheap toilet roll wasn't folded to a point (a VERY minor point, but one thing that I do notice in hotels - yes, I am that pedantic!)

We ordered room service on one occasion, and the food was lovely, as was the breakfast food! but the whole time we stayed at the hotel, a food trolley was left outside our room, usually with dirty dishes from room service on it, which I found to be quite disgusting!
The spa was great - the pool and whole area is blissfully relaxing. Towels are provided and the staff are pleasant. The story telling evening which is shown in videos of the hotel, only happens on a Thursday, so we missed that.

Overall I enjoyed my stay here, but perhaps went with too high expectations of this hotel, and therefore felt a little let down by it. It is maybe more suitable for people looking for a functional hotel with few 'frills' or business people not staying for longer than a night or two. If I go back to Reykjavik, I would stay in a more central location, and pay a bit more for a more standard 4 star experience.

Room Tip: Please note that this hotel is next to a (small) airport, so ask for a room at the opposite side to...

Yes, this is a lovely hotel with buts ... but, you really need to look closely at the picture of the of the standard sized room on their website. Yes, the wall is that close to the foot of the bed. We had to upgrade or we would of gone mad! But ... it's a 20 minute walk to downtown - a long 20 minutes mostly along an industrial street. But ... it backs to an airport, really backs, as in the tarmac is at the backdoor; you could come off your plane and walk 100 feet into the lobby, so your view from your room is an airport. Pluses include the spa (some services included with an upgrade), a tour desk, and a hotel shuttle to downtown. But ... the shuttle doesn't bring you all the way back if you go to the mall (?), there are only 5 shuttle trips/day (we spent a LOT of krona on taxis because we were too exhausted to face an additional 20 minute walk back.), the geothermal beach that is "just behind the hotel" is actually just behind the airport, the Pearl (do go for the view) that is "just across the street" is actually just across the street and up the hill thru a park - and, well, now I'm nitpicking. Other pluses, food was good - breakfast buffet was varied; they had a little "cafe" with little cakes, little sandwiches and coffee open all day, and a nice dinner buffet (or regular menu but the buffet was a bargain). Stay here again? Maybe, just be informed.

Room Tip: Standard sized rooms are very small and well worn. Our upgrade cost an additional $60/night but the...

The advertisement of the hotel says its location is right near the domestic airport. That was the fundamental basis of our decision to take this hotel for the last day of our Reykjavik stay. We had an early flight out of Reykjavik domestic airport. Despite its location "near the airport" it does not mean that it is "at the airport"! Be careful with this! We finally walked to the BSI terninal and from there we took the bus to the domestic airport. Service wise not the best hotel. It took them too much effort to promptly answer my email.

We stayed at this hotel with a tour package from Icelandair. Hotel is owned by Icelandair. The external of hotel is nothing special. It looks like renovations are being carried out on the RHS of the hotel. Staff were reasonably helpful, but slow on check-in and check-out.

A few things to note about the hotel location. The hotel is 1h 30m with the bus transfer by Reykjavik Excursions - from KEF international airport. We noted that instead of buying the transfer via Icelandair website, it is a little bit cheaper to buy it at KEF after you arrive. The hotel is behind the Reykjavik domestic airport, but you cannot walk to the airport. Instead, you will have to take a taxi (cost ~ISK 2,500) - there is no free shuttle. You cannot really walk to the city from the hotel. There is a shuttle bus for this, but it does not run that often. The hotel is not really within walking distance to other eating places, so we ate at the hotel. One thing to note is that food is expensive in Iceland (understandable). Water is drinkable, and very fresh as it comes from springs - there is no need to buy bottled water!

Our package gave us the basic / standard rooms, with breakfasts (a very good variety and choices). Nothing special about the rooms. It is clean and functional, only has a shower (average pressures), no bath, normal TV (not flat screen). There was a jug and 2 cups in the rooms, but no tea or coffee provided! Wifi was extra, but there were 2 computers in the reception area for checking emails or internet.

We booked tours with Reykjavik Excursions, and on their buses (even to / from KEF / hotel) there was "free" wifi - signal was good enough for emails and google maps. We used our ipad when on bus to check emails!

The Icelandair package rated this hotel as 4*, and the hotel at Akureyri as 3* (we also stayed here). However, we would rate them the other way round. The Reykjavik hotel 3* and the Akureyri hotel 4* - see my review for this.

We arrived at the hotel very early in the morning after a red eye, unfortunately we were not able to get in the room right away so we ate breakfast in the restaurant, by the time we were finished, the room was ready for us. You can tell they are professionals with getting guests in early after long flights. Being in the hotel business that is a hard thing to guarantee and I appreciated it.

The rooms were your typical smaller European sized room, they felt clean and were in good condition. The beds were comfortable and it was actually nice to have my own small bed pushed together with my wife's bed, felt like we had more room. The housekeeping staff was pleasant enough, the elevators, while small, were very efficient and you did not have to wait long for them.

The spa area was nice, the pool and hot soaking tub were well maintained and the purple mood lighting was relaxing. Nice way to end the day with a good hot soaking. I just wished the hours of operation were more favorable.

The breakfast buffet was nice and satisfying, it was kept well stocked and fairly clean. Not superior service, but efficient and what you expect in a huge buffet room. We ate in the restaurant two of our nights. The first night was efficient and food met our expectations. The second night was a little more unorganized and wasn't one of our better dinner experiences. My wife enjoyed her salad entree and I wasn't a big fan of the salmon entree, had an artificial smoky flavor. Everybody has their own tastes and preferences, I am just summizing OUR experience. TripAdvisor is a great tool, but you have to be fair in your reviews, too often if one bad thing happens, the reviewer hides behind the power of social media. All hotels can't meet every traveler's expectations.

The internet was efficient, but you had to pay for it every 24 hours. The lobby was fresh and clean. They had older tube televisions (to some people a travesty) in the rooms with limited channel selections, but at least the BBC kept us abreast of world events. I would stay at this hotel again if I traveled to Reykjavic.

Room Tip: Very quiet hotel and the windows opened a little to get fresh air in the rooms.
