“Great location, good value for money”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 23, 2013

You could not ask for a better location for this place. It is right in the centre of Reykjavick (be aware of the noise on the weekend though).
The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful and were always keen for a chat and booked our trips for us. Breakfast was not bad, normal cereal, bread cheese etc.
I would defintely stay here again as it was really cheap and good value for money.

We recently stayed for 4 nights at this hotel.

The location is great, just off the main street so it is easy too find. It is close to the centre of the city and allows you to walk to all the most interesting sites in Reykjavik. If you go down the hill into the centre you can find a good 24 hour supermarket as well as plenty of restaurants, cafes and bars. The food selection in Iceland is excellent. In regards to prices, it is a little more expensive than the UK but what do you expect in the city. My husband has lived in Switzerland and said that Iceland was much better value for money.

The room was cosy and just big enough for the two of us. It was warm and clean and the bed was comfortable . There is a mini bar (unsurprisingly overpriced), hairdryer, an iron etc. I wouldn't give the hotel a 5* as our room was right next to the stairs which was pretty noisy when people were coming and going (Don't forget the earplugs). The shower was tiny which made showering a little difficult. The carpet could also do with being replaced as it was showing signs of wear.

On the plus side, the reception staff were very friendly and helpful, offering to book up trips, restaurants and confirm bookings for excusions etc. They were on hand 24 hours per day. The breakfast was very good, often checked and replenished and offered a good selection for continental style breakfast.

Overall I would recommend this hotel, although maybe a different room. We did not stay over the weekend so I cannot comment about what it is like when it is more busy and noisy.

A very nice hotel. Located in the city center. Despite being located on the main street in the room can not hear the noise. Room not very big but it has everything you need.

Staff - the highest class. An efficient and fast. What is important very helpful. Thanks to them we came to a great restaurant "Seafood Grill".

Very nice idea to open breakfast room up to 21:00 with hot water, coffee, tea, and even honey. In the cold days very useful idea despite the fact that the room was a kettle.

Greetings to all staff. Takk :-)

We picked the hotel out of many, based on the pictures online, reviews and, especially location. Set in an old building, the new-ish hotel is small but not too small to be creepy. Again, the minimalist decor shocks in the beginning but one gets used to it. Very clean and functional. Everything works. Breakfast is no less, no more than what one needs before getting on the road. Our sincere thanks to Tony, the Englishman who works at the reception. Tony helped us with our bookings, chatted with us and made us laugh with his Nordic (by now) humour. All in all, great value for the money and wonderful reception. Bravo!

Room Tip: You may want to choose a quiet room in the back, especially in summer. The street is lined with rest...

We just returned from Iceland and had a great time. This was a perfect hotel for us and we would definitely stay there again. To start, the front desk staff was very friendly and helpful with bookings. Thank you Tony, Jonathan and Unnur for making us feel at home. As others have mentioned, the hotel is perfectly situated for a visit to Reykjavik. You are right in the heart of the city. We arrived on a Tuesday morning and paid extra for the early use of the room and breakfast--it was perfect after an over-night flight from New York.

We were not there over the weekend so I can't comment about the weekend "noise." However, we didn't hear anything abnormal during our stay and we slept with the windows open. Our room had enough space and the furniture was relatively new with a working Tv and kettle. The room itself and the bathroom were very clean, as well as the hotel hallways and breakfast area. It was also nice having a miny bar (refrigerator) in the room, there was enough room to put an item or two for cooling. By the way, check out the Bonus supermarket up the street, it is good for whatever you need.

We found the breakfast more than adequate--a few meats, cheese, three kinds of cereal, herring, assorted breads, hard boiled eggs, lots of fruits and vegetables. Of course, plenty of tea and coffee. Since they didn't have the famous Icelandic yoghurt, I bought an inexpensive container in the supermarket, kept it in the frig and brought it down for breakfast. All in all, we were pleased with the breakfast setup in the atrium-style breakfast room. (The service personnel restocking the food did an amazing job keeping up with the hungry visitors.)

Iceland was great, but that's another story. We were very pleased with the hotel and thank once again our friends at the lobby desk for helping to make it a wonderful stay. We hope to return to Iceland and this hotel.

We thoroughly enjoyed the 5 days we spent in this wonderful hotel which is so special in so many ways. Firstly, the people that work there are amazing..they are all friendly, funny and warm and will go out of their way to assist you in any way they can. The location of the Hotel is excellent and as the name suggests central to the city and so many local attractions. The hotel is clean and fresh and the bedrooms roomy. There is a great variety of food for the complimentary breakfast accounting for all different types. My husband and I have completely different tastes but both were deliciously accounted for by the breakfast selection. This hotel was just wonderful to stay in and made our trip to Iceland a perfect one!

Read the reviews carefully. This hotel is absolutely central, located on one of the streets where most weekend reveller will pass through. It is noisy. Three night clubs are very close, and you will feel and hear their music until 5am in the morning (Friday and Saturday nights). The reception provides ear plugs and is not fuzzy if you want to change your room.

Rooms are very small, very clean (just the carpet needs to be renewed). Wifi is available free of charge, hassle-free, and it is fast. Breakfast is simple, but good.

The staff is very friendly and helpful, especially with tour operators and restaurant recommandations.

Room Tip: Avoid the street facing rooms.
