“Relaxing & roomy with a great location”
Reviewed March 28, 2013

A friend recommended this place & it's absolutely great. We stayed in Apt. 20 for 4 nights. Lovely little balcony with a view over to City Hall and the pond. Quiet location (altho' only steps away from the busy street) & an easy walk to center city. We opted for breakfast & had a sumptuous amount of fruit, yogurts, juices, meats, eggs, bread -- and all the fixin's to go with. Coffee, tea, the works. Kitchen also has a microwave, stove and any utensil needed. They picked us up from the airport at midnight & then called us at the apt to make sure we had everything we needed. Excellent value for the money -- stay here!

Room Tip: Apt. 20 is very, very nice.

If you want a good location to stay while in Reykjavik this place is pretty good. Good location and comfortable rooms. It's pretty quiet too. Where we stayed it has a full kitchen and many rooms. You are only a short walk from the center of town.

These apartments are really clean, very comfortable and well-appointed. We stayed in unit 20 which had a little balcony overlooking the ‘pond’. This is a 1-bed suite with an additional sofa bed so sleeps up to 4 and would be big enough for 4 too. The kitchen is small but it really has everything you need – even scissors! The bathroom has shower gel and soap, plus a small hair drier. The bed was medium-soft and we had the bounciest pillows I’ve slept on in years! There’s a daily cleaning service included and they leave the place spotless. Also, there’s loads of tea, coffee, whitener and sugar provided which is topped up every day – this is something much posher hotels could learn from!

The location is a couple of minutes from the nearest restaurants and shops, perhaps 10 minutes to nightclubs. Harpa is straight down the road and there’s a 24hr supermarket 5 mins away. I’d recommend having a cheap breakfast at the bakery on Laekjargarta, I forget the name but it’s straight up the road.

On-street parking right outside (we always got a space) was very cheap, although negotiating the 1-way streets to get the right place was fun! Having said that, driving in Iceland was no problem and traffic was far lighter than the UK.

The only downside is… ah, who am I kidding, there’s no downside to staying here! Brilliant value, really comfortable, everything you need in a location ideal for exploring both Reykjavik and further. Stay here!!

We stayed here for a week and it was perfect. The suite was compact but very clean and supplied everything we needed. There was a small fridge, 4 burner stove top, and enough dishes for 3. It was the thoughtful touches that really made this place outstanding - candles, matches, and checking on us during the snow storm. The location is great - downtown and within walking distance of everything we needed. The heated floors and towel rack in the bathroom were a huge hit. We highly recommend this place.

We stayed here on our first night in Reykavik after having done our research on Trip Advisor and it was exactly what the reviews said. The location is fantastic with a 5 minute walk to the centre of town. The apartment had everything we needed and was very clean and comfortable. Our apartment was on the top floor. There is no reception but this doesn't cause any problems. After we were buzzed into the building, our keys were waiting for us on the table, and we also received a follow up phone call to make sure everything was okay. We found the apartment very central and very comfortable and would recommend this to others.

We stayed here for 6 nights and although there is no reception, you can call up to discuss any queries you may have at any time. The apartment was immaculately clean and our room was serviced even when we didn't head out until later on in the day which was great.

The only problem we found was that we could hear the noise from the flat above and as we are light sleepers, we were woken up a lot. I would recommend trying to get an apartment on the top floor if possible or bringing some earplugs if you are a light sleeper. We were in apartment 10 and there was one floor above us.

Overall, it offered fantastic value compared to other hotels we researched.

Thank you for your review.

Castle House is in the city centre but in a resident street and away from the noise of the busy night life. It is one of the quietest hotels in town.

As explained while you stayed with us many people need to leave very early in the morning for flights so it cannot be guaranteed that there is complete silence in the building at that time. We get very few complaints about noise (or anything else in fact !)

Our reception is in the small office at the back and we are on call 24/7 for anything you may need. All tour operators pick up from our doorstep. If you take the bus form the Airport use
airportexpress, they also deliver you to our doorstep while the FlyBus only stops at the large hotels.

Everything is within easy walking distance: The city center's great restaurants and shops, museums, Art Galleries etc. (The National Gallery of Art is next door ! )

To see a list of our apartments click on Hotel Website at the top of the reviews. We offer a range of great apartments, from studios to 3 bedroom apartments.

We stayed in apartment 20 in Jan and it was everything I was expecting after reading the great reviews.
The apartment was very warm and cosy, with underfloor heating in the bathroom and a good sized comfortable bed.
We had everything we needed in the spotlessly clean kitchen and enough complimentary tea and coffee to last our stay.
It was a short walk of around 10 mins to the centre.
The apartment is easy to find and we had no problems being picked up and dropped off right outside the building for any of the trips we booked.
I was upset to discover I had left a brand new sweater behind but this was posted back to the uk to me without any fuss.
Like most other reviewers I would recommend these apartments to anyone staying in Reykjavik.
