This hotel is wonderful. Staff so kind. Room comfortable with great view of city and sea. Hotel restaurant was BEST food. Loved the chef - lobster bisque, lamb beyond heavenly, chocolate torte, and good wines!

Grand Hotel in Reykjavik
Stayed five days at this top modern Iceland Hotel. We where given a junior suit with a Jacuzzi and a supersize king bed. The location is perfect for all directions in Reykjavik and the breakfast buffet is the best in town with eggs and bacon…… and it is included in the price. Great staff and a great value for your money.

The location is not central. It takes at least 10 Euro to take a taxi to city centre or have to walk half an hour or more. However there is supposed to be a shuttle bus goint to city 3 times a day, 930 1200 and 1700. I may have wrong memory about the time. Check it. Go to the reception and ask for it a bit before the scheuled time. If there no bus available they will give you a voucher to take a taxi for free to city centre. The breakfast is acceptable but not spendid. But when there is a group tour taking breakfst it is chaotic and the refill is not fast enough. The room is spacious. However, there is shower only and the hot water runs slowly. Are the hotel supporting environmental protection? Though I have not caught a cold but it will be better if the flow of hot water is a bit faster. The food in the bar and lounge is good. There is free wi-fi available in lobby only. You can watch CCTV (a mandarin channel in your room). When we arrived airport we have a return ticket of airport bus to hotel. One day before departure we showed the ticket with the name of the company on it to the reception asking them to book the bus to airport for us. However they have informed another company.instead. When the driver of bus of another company came the mistake was found and the reception said that it is OK. :Luckily the bus of the right company came and we catch the plane we are supposed to take. Thank God.

Not so many facilities for a so expensive hotel. For example there isn't swimming pool and sauna. Just a crowded gim. Breakfast is rich, and personnel nice. The rooms are clean and large. Location is not so good because a bit far from the city Center.

I was in the renewed part of the hotel, the tower, and room was correct according with a four stars hotel, modern and well furnished. I like the lobby area, in which there is a business centre with three pc with free internet connection and a free printer, very useful for your boarding cards. There is free Wifi in the lobby too, but there is a fee up to 12 Euros if you wanted internet access in the room, what I don’t think that is very correct for a four stars business hotel. As other members say, the hotel is not in the city centre, 25 minutes walking. Breakfast is not its strong point. It was overcrowded, without tables to sit down, waiters try to help you preparing the tables that other guest release, but they don’t change the tablecloth, just get the crumbs out with their hands. The variety of the food was poor, and sometimes you had to ask for water or orange juice (no fresh) that had finished.

Stayed here for 2 nights, was roughly a 20 minute walk from the city centre. Lovely and modern hotel with huge rooms and lovely bathroom. Really nice, generous breakfast. Only downside was expecting a double bed but instead had two singles, the bed wasn't particularly comfy. Helpful staff, would stay again.

I stayed at the grand hotel in augst and was happy... sometimes. the service was slow- on exception of a couple employees. once our room dilema was sloved we enjoyed our room, but didn´t get what we paid for but were happy in the end. not a very family oriented hotel, more for business and confrences. what we were most unhappy about was the location and the service for the cost. we were a 35 min walk from all the action and ended up taking taxis often, and taxis are expensive from the city center to the grand hotel, around 16.50 american dollars. overall satisfyed but would stay somewhere else if you want action, no taxis, and a better hotel. 3 out of 5 stars
