We just stayed here as part of a tour from icelandair. This is not a fancy or wellness place, but good enough to stay in for sleeping and going elsewhere to do.
Pros:
Staff. Very friendly and extremely helpful. Rooms were always clean and neat. Breakfast well stocked, even at 4:30 am when we left for the airport.
Internet. Good coverage and connection even though we were far from the office where often the only access point is located. Easy passwords and as many as we wanted (multiple devices could run at once)
Nice location. Just a few blocks from a major bus station and the main shopping/restaurant 'drag.' Sort of towards the entrance to Reyjavik, so we got dropped off first at the end of tours. Nice.
Cons:
Bathroom. Water pressure and water stunk (literally). Hot water stinks highly of sulfur. Since there was no exhaust fan, the whole room smelled. Bathroom stayed all steamy because it couldn't exhaust. There was no shower curtain or door, so everything got splattered. Controls were rediculously complicated and pressure very low (I guess that was good as it didn't splatter as much).
Bedroom. Could have used more cupboards or drawers or something. No place to put all our clothes. Beds needed a top sheet as there was just a coverlet and you could either cover your shoulders or your feet or both if you slept diagonally and never moved.

Room Tip: Din't seem to have an advantage..

Good as a base for meeting other friends in the centre of town (its about a 10-15minute walk).
Good buffet breakfast, if you like fish and Skyr (Icelandic yoghurt) otherwise theres plenty of it and is good to get you going for the day ahead.
The rooms whilst clean and comfortable, looked a little tired.
The hotel staff were friendly and helpful.
One of the first and last hotel pick-up and drop-off points for the airport shuttles, which is a welcome thing given the hour trip in and out of Reykjavik!

Room Tip: Rooms on the back-side of the building are quieter.

As indicated elsewhere this is a functional hotel ideally located within easy walking distance of the centre of Reykjavik. Continental breakfast - the only hot option boiled eggs - but adequate and plentiful. Rooms were good with all the usual amenities although perhaps a little "worn". Staff were friendly and efficient. The excellent good value restaurant next door - Harry's (Icelandic / Oriental) plus the pizza restaurant La Luna the other side provided ideal sustenance without going over the top. Iceland is not a place to go for "wining and dining" as it tends to be very expensive so this is an ideal base for investigating the city and as Reykjavik Excursions (extremely well organised) offered pick up from this hotel made going further afield very easy. (Northern lights a bit hit and miss due to the weather during our stay. No point in whale watching in the winter. You cannot really do both in one trip.) Definitely would stay here again in the unlikely event of returning.

OK, two things you should know about this hotel, Firstly, it isnt The Ritz. Its a everyday - Travelodge - style hotel. It does what it says on the tin. However, it is very well located. Easy enough to drive to and park, without all the problems of the traffic wardens in the main city cetre (They are VERY hot on traffic wardens and there is NO extra 5 minutes.). The rooms have fridge, TV (although we didnt use it) a bathroom and shower etc. ITs all there, it just isnt 5 star. That said, as a base, it is very good. You just wont be spending your whole day in your room.

Just returned from 4 day trip. The hotel was clean and comfortable but basic and a bit dull. Could have done with a separate bar instead of doubling up as a restaurant and a very small foyer.
We had a luxury room which had a mezzanine floor as a bedroom and lounge below. Nice.
Buffet breakfast good and quite varied. Service was excellent and the staff were all very helpful and good humoured.
Conveniently located about 10 mins walk from the centre. There's not much in the centre so you need to book some of the many trips or hire a car which is fairly easy via the hotel. Bus pick ups are reliable but can be a bit tedious going from hotel to hotel. The hotel doesn't do evening meals but there is an Italian restaurant next door (not great) or Harry's which is also next door and very good. Failing that try the restaurants in the town, some are excellent but expensive.
Would stay in this hotel again if we go back.

Hotel was very clean and comfortable. We had a 4th floor room, view out over rooftops - not very inspiring but only light from 10ish to 4 this time of year and we were not in room during this time so not an issue. Large bath room, only shower not up to standard I expected. Thought there would be a power shower or similar, but what there was worked adequately and loads of hot water. Plenty of towels and supplies. Sofa,TV, desk, chairs, fridge and coffee making facilities - easy to get more sachets from reception if you are thirsty ! Then spiral staircase up to mezzanine level with comfortable bed, table and chairs, TV.Room was a little too hot for us if anything ! had window open and radiators turned down. Breakfast fresh and adequate but same every day. No hot dish which would have been welcome. Reception staff spoke very good english and were very helpful. Hotel was near bus station and about 10 mins walk from the main shopping streets and seafront .Apart from breakfast room, which was busy when lots of people were eating early to go on trips, the hotel was very quiet and peaceful. We chose to spend more money on trips etc and go for a mid range hotel on this holiday and were not disappointed.

Nice hotel, reception staff were excellent and could not have been more helpful. The location is good being a short (10 minute) walk to the main shopping and eating centre. The room was had plenty of room for the 2 of us with a good balcony. The bed was very comfortable and the room was kept clean. The only slight improvement that could be made would be clearing tables faster for breakfast over the weekend (but it was busy). Overall a pleasant comfortable base from which to enjoy Iceland!
