“Great location very comfortable”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 17, 2011

Location of the hotel is great only 5-7 mins walk and you are in heart of the city down the main shopping street. It also has 3 great restaurants including Harrys' which is next door. Rooms are nothing special but comfortable with mod cons such as TV ans wifi, hair dryer, large radiator for the cold nights. Breakfast is good it has a nice selection on meat, fruit, cereal, drinks and pasteurises. All in all a good hotel which is a good base for exploring Iceland as all major tour op's pick up and drop off here!

Hotel Reykjavik is simple as it could be, but close to the city centre and within quiet area...
Rooms are simply decorated, not large, but enough to suit at least 2 persons. Hotel offers breakfast and I would recommend to book hotel rooms with breakfast, while to have them at the city will be even more expensive. Please, note that in Iceland, they are taking hot water from the depth of hot springs and it has smell of sulphur, but you can safely drink cold water from the tap (don’t waste money on bottled water).
Good news are that all tour organiser stops at the hotel and you will be picked up at the doorsteps of the hotel for various tours within Iceland. It is also within short walking distance to one of oldest thermal bathing house...

Room Tip: good for shorter or some 4 days stay... but you need to travel around Iceland to discover it!!!

Expect no boutique hotel, it's very standard but I much enjoyed my stay. Clean room, quiet, not so central but on walking distance from the citty center. Good breakfast. No real office center, just a PC, but the front desk lady printed my boarding pass with a smile. You can breakfast early (as from 5 am) if you have to catch an early plane. Great service! Recommendable!!

Found this hotel to be clean, and the rooms were fine, but very small. The breakfast was good, except quite often they would be out of a lot of items, or coffee, and asking the employee to re-stock was treated with a glare and scowl. There was only one time in a week where the person at the front desk smiled at me. Every other time, day, night, afternoon, the front desk person looked miserable. Which kind of seems like the norm in Iceland, anyway, when it comes to servers and customer service.
The hotel was far out of the way of downtown, which is good if that is what you want. But if you want to walk it is about 15 minutes at least. There are a couple restaurants close to the hotel, and one store. Pizza place is about a 5 to 10 minute walk.
We weren't impressed with the booking of the rooms as we were there for a tournament, and they hotel booked us all on different rooms and intermingled families and business travellers between our rooms. They should have booked all tournament people on the same floor and the others away from us. Because they didn't do this there were noise complaints, and subsequently some of us were threatened with eviction, even though we were being respectful and really, not very loud. Not a fun time, especially since the front desk guy who threatened us was not a pleasant person at all, and just seemed to hate everyone. I would probably not stay here again, and opt instead for the Fron or something closer to downtown.

Room Tip: corner room above flags is a good one

Stayed here 1 week while at a hockey tournament. They let me check in upon arrival at 8 am.... Definite bonus after a long trip! Very friendly and clean. Free breakfast, wifi, and parking. They let us use the dining room and heat up food in the kitchen mircrowaves! Some people experienced trouble with showers flooding the bathroom (and promptly got their rooms upgraded), but I was OK. About a 15 minute walk into town and attractions - which I think is something to be thankful for once weekend revelers hit the streets!

Room Tip: Rooms at the back, and in the wing *away* from the parking garage are quieter.

Just returned from 6 nights staying at the Best Western. Hotel very friendly, clean and close to the restaurants and shops. The rooms was not huge but had everything we wanted. Breakfast although the same each morning was very good.Mini fridge in the room (empty) so we were able to keep wine and water in it. You do not have to buy water as the tap water is perfect.Heating in bathroom and bedroom, but you could controll this yourself, also had a balcony.

Room Tip: Ask for top floor, no noise from above, also had balcony.

My sister and I stayed here for 3 night in November 2011. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The location was prefect for exploring Reykjavik and tours around the rest of Iceland. The room was spacious and clean. There wasn't loads of choice at breakfast but what was there was nice. We would recommend others to stay at this hotel, especially as it is good value for Iceland.
